CHNR, BLNR ....nah
Walked into my AD today to see what they had for my wife and just for the heck of it. “Beautiful watch” he says looking at my 116519LN Daytona. “Of course it is I got it here” I reply. “Oh I know” the gentleman stated “I sized it for you”. After a few chats and peeks in a rather full case of PM subs , sky dwellers , a 43 Etc I said I was happy they have stock for the holiday. I chatted and looked at a watch for my wife talking about how rough she is on watches and talking about my Oysterflex he asked “Care to try on a Jubilee for fit”. “Sure” I reply. Out comes a BLNR. “That looks great on you. That watch is you. I also have a brown black if you want “. Mind you I just dropped 30 after tax on my Daytona so was curious.
It is a beautiful piece in person. I stated I wasn’t at this very moment looking for another but in a month after tax season rolls over I will be. “Put me on the list” I gleefully stated. “Oh I don’t have a list or take one. You are the Daytona guy to me. I remember. I could get 10 of those and sell 10 in a few days but we wanted you to have it. When you are ready come on back and we will take care of the other ones if necessary.” The end So relationships matter , people matter , yes I passed on both. Yes I have the cash on hand. I will return and I do not doubt I will have other decisions to make. Keep at it everyone. Be sincere and honest. Businesses value people over profit. |

It’s well known that most places if you buy a PM watch they will get you any SS.

Must be nice to live in your market. I purchased that same watch along with around $50K more in purchases and all I ever get offered are black subs and DJ. And of course other PM. But there are so many big hitters here it’s not even funny.

The market here is like everywhere else and buyers plenty here in Chicago. I understand the sentiment of some and that’s ok. That’s their issue not mine. I’ve had the opportunity to try on most popular models and I’m in it to wear my watches and my AD goes to a great length to sniff out flippers. It is all part of the game. We all have our personal choices and how we build relationships is the point of this post. Everyone is after the same “hot” models for some reason or another. These are SS and the reason....price point or profit. Nothing wrong with any of it as we all assign our own value to things in our lives. Some pieces do have a nice cool factor and yes they look great no matter what metal.
I went in looking at a 41 blue face option. Came out with a possibility as a recommendation from my AD on what they feel would fit my personality and meet my interests based on conversations. I am fully aware of desirable pieces but I don’t buy the hype on the spot. A great AD has great customer service and works for your business. I want to to business with those types of companies so I do. Companies also want to reciprocate. Hate if you must but if the results aren’t there take a look at the methodology or true value of your AD relationships. They are a two way street. If not find a new one. |
