1983 two tone Datejust, what alternative strap
Just got done servicing my father's two-tone Datejust with champagne dial that he hasn't worn in years since it stopped running. The jubilee band is pretty stretched. Was thinking about some alternatives, any suggestions? Was thinking a brown leather strap, if so whats a good quality brand? any way do de-stretch the jubilee band? if anyone have some pictures to share would greatly appreciate it.

A nice brown Rolex leather and plated buckle. Smart and less than you’d think.

I found an image of mine. Btw, I’ve used Michael Young in HK to tighten a bracelet before.

Rolliworks in the San Fran Bay area specializes in Rolex Bracelet restoration. Give them a call.

Emailed Rolliworks for a price quote, $400 plus shipping, will keep this in mind. Anyone have any suggestion on good quality brands of leather straps?

People don't take straps as seriously as they once did. I've had that black croc for close to 20 years, don't remember where I bought it but the quality is quite high. :)
In palmier times it was considered desirable to order custom straps from an atelier like Camille Fournet in Paris. I had an 1802 Day Date which is a quite thick watch and to give it balance and presence I wanted a strap that was 6mm thick at the lugs. The ladies at Fournet's were kind, professional and knew what I wanted before I did. I highly recommend the experience. https://www.camillefournet.com/ |
