RSC warranty work and new scratches...

Just wanted to get some opinions not a RSC bashing thread but had to send my watch in for warranty work that was in immaculate condition and when I got it back there’s a bunch of hairline scratches on the case and clasp including some small took marks.

I sent them an email but they’re out until Jan 6th. Should I wait and hope they take ownership of it and polish/refinish the case and bracelet? Or skip the headache and take it to a Rolex Authorized Repair center and have them do it in a few days. I’ve had my watch redone by them before and they did great work for around 200$

I realize it will get scratched up again but I would rather be the one dragging it through rubble and giving it character than someone carelessly handle it on a workbench. Know what I mean?

That’s the exact reason why I started working on my own cars.

Yeah definitely a bummer but I will take everyone’s advice and wait, hopefully they can make this right. I’ll keep you guys updated just in case anyone else has to deal with it at some point.

Unfortunately no before pics but I do have a receipt for the refinishing work which was done a week before sending it for the warranty work

Wow, definitely looks someone didn’t take much care polishing that up. That is atrocious and I’d be livid if my watch came back from any service centre, let alone RSC.

Yeah the thing is my kid took a sponge with a scotchbrite to the bracelet while I was doing the dishes ( that was a lesson learned lol ) but it happens had the bracelet and the case polished and like I said it looked like a brand new watch again. I posted about the movement or o-ring issue, sent it out for the movement problem So imagine my surprise when I get it back and it looks like that!

I guess I’ll wait to hear back from them after the holidays but it’s just so frustrating.

The same thing happened to me when I did some RSC work. It's very frustrating. I mean, what are we supposed to do if our watches need to be worked on while under warranty? Such a big headache. I'm hoping this isn't the norm.

The sad truth is they are very careless with our watches. I had two bad experiences with rsc.

this recently came up in another thread and there were a lot of other people who said this only happens in a few cases and on the whole Rolex service doesn't add new marks to a watch.

Having sent in two pieces for warranty work and gotten both back with tool marks on them I am not so sure I agree with the above but realize I am just one example.

My lesson was that unless its serious it can wait until the first real service as there is a good chance something else will get messed up and I will notice, and at least by then it will have some wear and tear on it making it harder to see what they might add from a damage perspective

The scratches on yours don't seem that bad so I'd be glad its not worse.

What is most frustrating for me is take pride in your work! This would have taken a couple of minutes on the buffing wheel. I bet who ever did this wouldn’t be happy if their watch came back to them in this condition.

This is why I won't ever get my watches serviced. I buy them new, keep them scratch free while enjoying them, and if/when they stop working... they stop working. I will just buy more watches.

It's so easy to take care of a watch and so I find it almost hysterical that the pinnacle of luxury, Rolex, treats your watch like crap during service.

I think I may just end up getting it done locally. I know I shouldn’t have to pay for it but it’s definitely going to be quicker and easier than dealing with RSC.

They don’t have to worry about working on my watches again.
