How to get a Nautilus/Aquanaut

Hi all,

New to the forum but have really enjoyed all the incoming patek photos. It’s 2020 and I would like to ask all the veteran patek owners on how to work with local AD or for that matter...any AD for a chance at getting a nautilus or aquanaut. I live in Los Angeles but do go to Las Vegas from time to time. Any advice would be appreciated!

Grey, global recession, or bring your young child who is hopefully very cute who strikes up a watch conversation with the AD. No wait list for cute kids that live watches.

My 13 year old son asked to go on the waiting list for an Aquanaut for his 21st! But seriously it is really down to where your local AD is located and how comfortable they are to speak to on a regular basis, you might be surprised is you persist, good luck.

If your kid is really cute wouldn't it work better to sell the kid in the grey market and use the funds to buy a Nautilus, also in the grey market?

I believe in just being direct... that way minimal misunderstandings. What do I need to do to get a relationship started. Everyone knows how it works... just be straight forward is what I would recommend.

Your AD is actually a boutique. I spoke to the manager a couple months ago. The wait for these watches is so long they threw out the waiting list. Remember, their customers include Hollywood stars and hip hop artists. They will get first crack at these coveted watches. If I were you I would buy grey.

I'll give you a call when I'm ready to bundle their 5724G or R which has been on their display for about 3 years now if they can hit me with a 5990 or 5712/1A (or I'll take a 5711/1A too)

You would want to bundle a $100k with a 5711? You know it’s cheaper to go grey

I'd just want both watches and I get into the good books with them then

How to get a Nautilus/Aquanaut

Sadly in the current market - it is honestly just a waste of time to try to work with most ADs. As many have eluded to - they have their client base and VIPs they are catering to - and just don’t get the inventory to be able to supply all of the desire.

Can someone get lucky? Perhaps - it’s not completely out of the question - however probably is quite low.

My AD would LOVE to sell either of those references to EVERYONE that walks in - if they could - they are a business - they just don’t get enough watches.

(I remember the days when my AD couldn’t GIVE an Aquanaut away)

It is definitley a difficult environment... but it will get better. My personal speculation is that we saw the peak and over the next year the frenzy will wane some.

Here is my question: given this SS frenzy for Rolex and Patek, is it just among WIS and celebrities, or is the circle of watch enthusiasts actually getting bigger? Put differently, are more of the masses becoming interested in mechanical watches?
