Crazy Batman Price

$19k on DavidSW. Wow. Thought that was a typo. I guess the plastic those stickers are cut from is precious plastic as they add about $5k??

Its one of the last ever sold that is completely mint/virgin. If you are a collector, where you going to find another one??? This watch wont be worn. Its like mint baseball card verses the same one with one corner slightly rolled. The difference can be thousands.

At this point, the ss Daytona has made me numb to sticker shock a while ago.

The BLNR prices are dropping more and more each month on the gray market. The premium price is now more close than ever to the MSRP, especially after the recent Rolex price increase.

Great deals can be made for this reference, especially if you are in the USA. I have recently started checking the sale section of the forum and saw some brand new examples for the asking price of about $13.5K, and that's before any price negotiations. Paying in cash and in person can bring it even more down I guess.

Is this a website to check current market price? I just went to the link and it appears so, great site!

I wouldn’t heed the results too much. Apparently vintage GMT 16750s have a Market Range of $750 - $1,470

Hi, I'm the creator of the website. Yes it's intended to be a market price tracker. For the watch in question, there are more recent listings for dial and bezel parts than the actual watch itself. This is what is skewing the market price calculation. Unfortunately it's difficult to make the distinction in an automated fashion. But I will look into improving this.

My suggestion is don't blindly trust the market price and market range calculations, but use them a guideline and look at individual data points. I think there's still a lot of value as an aggregated source of reference.

Hope this helps.

I use your site often. Agreed individual data points add value. Kudos!

The website isn’t perfect and it looks your example has some watch parts being scraped skewing results. The data for the BLNR is mostly accurate though. I think there is one or two data points that are off IIRC.

This.
I’ve seen one sell for $12.7k last week. Like new but no stickers.

I would change my mind if this one from David sells. But I doubt a buyer will pay it.

If you think that is crazy, I hate to imagine what you think of the guys spending 30 grand on a 50 year old used watch.

It is new/unworn/sealed, and discontinued. Some people will pay a big premium...David knows the market.....must be someone willing to pay that kind of price!

^^^Spot on^^^ When I see David lowering his prices then that is good empirical data on future market trends. Prices were just raised again last week and hes moving them consistently without any discount. DavidSW doesnt let new hot models sit and are priced accordingly to sell at volume.

That's just because it's a highly desirable discontinued watch with stickers on.

It's also due to the release of the Batgirl (which made some people value the batman even more).

I don't buy into the craze however, david has a few batgirls for a few grands less than that. That's what I would go for.

The price is high but as others have said there are legitimate reasons. To call this price, for this watch, “crazy” is a stretch imho.

The 11 BLNR has valid collectable chops imho.

Calling over 2x retail “crazy” is a stretch? Ok...
