Wise to upgrade Rolex SD43 to AP Diver 15710ST?

Would like some advise whether it is wise totopup to get the AP 15710ST black dial? Understand the bezel of AP is prone to scratch but how does the AP wear? Is it wear bigger and heavier compared to the Rolex sd43 which is 43mm and on ss bracelet?

Wise to upgrade Rolex SD43 to AP Diver 15710ST?

Sure! Why not?

As a big AP fan — The ROO Diver is a fantastic watch - functional haute horology. It will wear quite similar to the SD 43 actually - and is quite comfortable for daily wear. I wore my diver (15703) daily for quite some time.

As far as APs vein ‘scratch magnets’ as so many like to say — I’ve never had any issues with any of mine as daily wearers. The Diver, Safari, traditional Royal Oaks. Sure - if you bang it around it’ll scratch — but so will a Rolex. I wouldn’t worry too much about that.

Good luck!!!!

I won’t do it. Before saying so, I had to google the AP model to know what you’re talking about. No way I would do it but I’m talking from a design style perspective not anything else. The AP could be technically superior, I don’t know but I won’t wear it no matter what.

The thing about the diver that bugged me was the size of the strap at the buckle, at 24mm it’s pretty wide compared to the SD

No. I’ve had them all. The SD is the best. The only way I’d upgrade is to the ceramic

Don't know that I'd consider that an upgrade but if you want it, get it.

I know you are talking about the diver but I have a few AP ROOS and love them. I think they are super comfortable on the rubber strap. I have a bigger wrist size around7.25-7.50 inches.i have never had any trouble with scratching the bezel. Either way both Rolex and AP make amazing watches. Where I live in Texas you don’t see many APs so for me it’s nice to have something different.

I do not know the answer but I have thought about it myself multiple times. I own the SD43 which I find amazing. I wore the AP Diver for a few minutes at an AD and boy is that thing pretty. Really tough choice!

Can’t smash an AP the way you can with Rolex.

The reason for wanting to change is I find it too similar to a sub.. I have seen so many people wearing sub at least 4-5 subs ever since I acquire my Rolex one month ago.
Does ap diver wear bigger or heavier compare to sd43? I thinking of changing the rubber strap to ss bracelet too。anyone know how much it cost for ss bracelet?

It’s not bad at all considering the price of everything....I spoke with them about fitting the ‘Ghost’ ROO with a titanium bracelet and it was only $2375. I’m assuming SS would be cheaper.

If the width of the specific Diver rubber strap is too wide for you then another option is to buy a standard 42mm Offshore rubber strap (it tapers more) and fit an OEM Deployant clasp. This a cheaper option than buying the SS bracelet.

Haha nothing to do with width.. I thought it might look better with ss bracelet so thought of changing it. I am fine with the larger width of the rubber strap but if ss bracelet look better n not too heavy I am all for it.
My sd43 wear just about right. Don’t feel top heavy or uncomfortable after a week of wear.. I hope ap diver works fine too as a daily wear

I like both models, had a Diver and on the verge of buying the SD43 TT, if you fancy an AP for something fresh then a good choice.

Cheers Chris, I've been to see it twice and really like it, esp the TT bracelet, never had a TT before so I am going in again to confirm if its for me.

Now you are talking. If that is not an option then go with the AP.

It really depends on your daily / overall use. If this is watch that will take heavy abuse then stay with the SD. However, if you want something more special, and the watch is destined for normal daily wear and travel........then go DIVER all the way. The finishing is on another level and the piece is not nearly as common as the SUB / SD43 look.

I've had the Diver several times in the collection and every time I let it go, it makes its way back.

Yes I intend to change to ap diver just for daily wear... Just using it as a dress n casual watch.. wouldn’t do any sports activities with it.

This is my setup and agree! They wear very similar in size, the Diver is my short sleeve summer watch for sure (white dial / white strap) while the DSSD is a beast and what I wear when I don’t want to worry about wrist awareness. I’m tempted by a bracelet for the Diver, but I like the runner strap.

I don’t like the SD43 and have a 15710 so I’m hugely biased.

If I had to choose between my 116600 and my 15710 I would choose the 116600 but only because I have small wrists and the 40mm fits me better. In every other way, the AP wins.

Sure, the bezel will get scratched up, but who cares? The case is my 116600 has pretty big scratches all over it, and the bracelet has a few knocks and bangs.

As for the AP strap being too wide as someone suggested, I like that but for people that don’t, AP do sell straps that taper more.

A friend of mine has the 15710 as well, and he has 7.5” wrists compared to my 6.5” wrists, and it looks epic.

I would say definitely ap diver is on another level. Ive had SD,subs and gmts over the years. Nice watches but cant compare them to AP.
I put my diver on the steel bracelet pretty much right away and much prefer the bracelet.
