My cats would love one....for supper. Just kidding, I hear they are good pets but outside in a cage because they can't be toilet trained like other pets.

then you're very wrong.

rabbits can be toilet train. once they're neutered, they basically peed in their litter area

We had 3 rabbits over 22 year period as pets.....a Rex and 2 Lion Head rabbits.
The Lion Heads had a "sweeter" personality than the Rex.....which my cats were scared to death of her.....she could run the cats all over the house.
They will chew up everything so you have to "bunny" proof you home.
One lion head lived to over 11 years old....the other about 9 and the Big Rex died about 7 so than can live well over 10 years.

A friend got one for his daughter. Apparently she got bored of it quickly so stopped paying attention to it. But I think that’s more of a 10 year old kid thing that a problem with having a rabbit.

They would let it out in their back yard, fenced in, to let it run around. One day it disappeared. He tried to figure out how it escaped... until it occurred to him that we have a number of hawks that live around our neighborhood.

tsk. rabbits are indoor pets. they can be let out under supervision.

rabbits are cute but probably not the best pets. They don't potty train well.

On an irrelevant note, Otters actually make great pets but not sure if they're even legal in the western countries

That reminds me... I know a guy who took in a baby raccoon and swears it’s the best pet anyone could ever have. It’s trained to use a liter box, eats like a cat and is easy to take care of. But it also comes when you call it, is very friendly, loves to play, and has many other dog like characteristics. It gets along well with both his cats and dogs.

He said you have to get them as babies before they learn how to survive in the wild, otherwise you’re inviting in a lot of problems. I know people love their pets, but I’ve seen few pet owners light up when talking about their pet as much as this guy does gushing about his raccoon.

I often wondered if they were very affectionate. I know different people that have had one (a lop eared wabbit) but they seem to disappear and never leave a note.

I grew up always having dogs and cats at home, but I never had any fun with the cats. Sadly we can only have fish for a pet since I got married (my wife is extremely terrified of animals) currently have 2 aquariums.

do not get two, ie a male & female. A buddy's daughter wanted to breed them to sell to pet shops, so he built a cage and bought her a couple of rabbits. THey were breeding and dropping young rabbits a whole lot faster than she could sell them

This is a true story. I was in Army language school in Monterey California during the 80's. A number of cats went missing from the homes of both instructors and students. It turns out cat meat is a delicacy in Vietnam and we had a couple of Vietnamese language instructors. People were warned to start locking up their pets.

really, they can be litter box trained but you need to get used to them chewing on power cords.
