Another new Rolex imperfection thread (sub)
Polling thoughts on this imperfection with my new sub date purchased from an AD. I’ve noticed that the lume pearl pip is one or two hairs off center to the right. I only notice it from a couple of angles, but it does annoy me.
Will the AD or local service center fix it under the warranty? Is the pip glued on, or will I need a replacement ceramic bezel? Can I wait a few months to see if I stop caring, or should I raise it to the AD sooner than later? Also open to the advice to ignore it and enjoy the great watch! Thanks |

That looks to be within tolerance, and have seen far greater gaps. In fact, my 116610LV was off center by more than that. Over the years, I got used to it. So much so, that when the watch went for service, I forgot to ask RSC to adjust it..... when the watch came back from service, the positioning was fixed and perfect. :-)

I can’t tell 100% how bad it is from the pics but I suspect it’d bug me. If I were you I’d probably just wear it and enjoy it for at least a while and Perhaps have it sorted out before the warranty ends, if not prior should you ever require warranty work. I’ve never had that exact issue but my guess is they’ll replace the insert for you.
That said, I don’t know what’s going on at RSCs in the US and globally. So no matter what I’d just keep that baby on the wrist for at least a few more months. |

I normally wouldn’t care about this sort of things but from those pics it looks off enough that I would bring it to Rolex attention.

No, just no...
It's not a $100 buck watch. And the fact that someone posted that it was fixed during "service" without asking to be fixed shows that it was a flaw during production. Same if the bezel was cracked, or whatever else! I'd definitely be unhappy about this... Anyone who defends this kind of lack of attention to detail doesn't sweat it, or is too invested in Rolex. That's also fine... But you're well within your rights to be unhappy about this. And I know there will be people who will add, why did you buy it like this etc etc... But it's very hard to take in the whole watch in the limited time you have pre purchase. |

I thought I’d log on and everyone would be trying to hawk their Rolex for under retail - thanks for providing some hope/normality op.

I’m not sure but rather than the pearl being off I think the marker is incorrectly marked ie the right line is not straight ??
What’s others thoughts? |

Yeah, the watch isn't crap... Just the way it was put together in this instance! That was, unarguably, crap attention to detail.
You can buy a nice car for the price of this watch... What would be a similar imperfection on a car? An exhaust that comes out under the front passenger seat? Scaled up, probably! |

Are these not made by hand? I’m guessing they are assembled by hand but I guess the various parts are machined at some point. Like buying clothes, at the top of the run, things are tight, at the bottom, loosy goosy

Does your bezel have a bit of back play? Mine lines up about the same when I turn it into position, and then with a slight move backwards it stops and is perfect YMMV.

I would sit tight during the current situation and wear and enjoy my watch. When things calm down and everyone is back to work I would inquire as to a repair. I figure the backlog of service cases will be large and I would not be without my watch, so unless they tell you it can be done quickly then I would wait until it can. Great watch. Enjoy.

Maybe bring it back to the AD to document the issue, and have it resolved sometime before the warranty is up? I’m not sure it would bother me enough to immediately send it in, but for close to 10k, I don’t think it’s at all unreasonable to take issue with this.

OP here. Thanks, all. It may be difficult to see in the picture, but the issue is definitely that the pearl is set a little too much to the right inside the downward facing bezel triangle. It’s only noticeable at certain angles. For example, light shined directly on the left side of the pearl shows significant lume between it and the black, whereas light shined on the right side shows the pip up to the right edge of the triangle.
I will swing by the AD once the world returns to normalcy, but I’m in no rush. I was a bit surprised though... searched old threads and had never seen this before :/ |

It would bug me - They should replace it, however now isn't the right time with the closure of RSC.

That wouldn’t sit well with me, it needs to meet exact standards to be acceptable for that msrp.

As others wrote I'd sit on it for next 6 months then complain of my OCD took hold. My 2001 sub bezel never lines up perfectly without safe cracking accuracy . But I use it so it's never zeroed anyway.

one of those things that once you notice it and it gets in your head, it will bother you, so I'd say you have to end up getting it fixed

I would not rush it to RSC risking them scratching my watch. It is not right, but try to forget and enjoy.

Well, that is not good. If it was listed here, all local experts would have said "what a cheap fake, they could do better" because of this very obvious flaw. Something wrong with Rolex's QC in this case.

I wouldn’t mind it. But you spent your hard earned money on it, it seems to bother you id get it fixed when RSC opens back up. Just keep in mind, you may send it in to get fixed and it comes back with a more severe flaw.

It would probably bother me...once the RSC's open back up I'd contact the closest one to you and see about sending it in to get corrected.
