Are there functinally equivalent caliber 9001 knock-off movements?
Hi all.
I am looking at potentially buying a sky-dweller locally and with the shut-down of most places, proper authentication would be difficult at best. So I am curious to know if anyone is aware of functionally equivalent sky-dweller knockoffs floating out there. I understand that many of you will say that ideally I'd have the caseback off to examiner the movement, and that would be done as I have the right tools. However, looking at the movement alone doesn't necessarily give me the comfort level that I'd like since I won't have one for reference side-by-side. So the next level down would be functionality. I know the 9001 movement is relatively complex in that it utilizes the bezel in combination with the crown to set all the parameters and I am curious to know if the knock-off manufacturers have started to copy this yet. The ETA 2836 is just a simple calibre based on the ETA 2824 and while it not only has a date function, it also features a weekday window indicator nothing more.

And only reason for asking was to learn how not to get burned when looking for a genuine piece. We all know the unfortunate reality of their existence. So who else better to ask than the experts here. |
