Just landed

Eagle has landed. Was debating between 703 and 710 for the past few months. Never made my mind up until recently. Wet dial of 703 is more appealing to me. Here it is.

Awesome ! It’s such a great watch. Would love to see some close up shots of the dial.

I was told by AP that underneath the mega tappisserie the dial is still machine turned like on the 15703 but the paint fills in the grooves giving the smooth finish.

Definitely a tough trade off though between more interesting dial or open case back.

are all MT dials that way or is this one different? i know both my ROO44 have smooth MT dials but my RO41 has textured GT dials.

The information was that all the MT dials, despite some having a smooth finish from the paint/ lacquer application are still turned on the same pantograph machines.

It came from one of the senior guys in Clearwater when I had a tour last year.

On the AP website I have seen MT dials described previously as stamped but now uses the word étampé - which may be a more accurate description. He was very clear, AP do not ‘stamp’ components & he would certainly be in a position to know the intricacies of the manufacturing process.

No one accused me of shooting a nice picture. Will give it a shot and send some your way. Yes, I was kinda bummed about not having a case back on 703. But, the wet dial overweight the matte, for me. All things even, I'd have chosen the display case back option.

Hopefully we will get a future release one day that combines the two !

Great to learn as well about the magnetic shielding of the 703.

There are quite a few members on the AP board with bracelets on a diver and it really does look amazing.

I think the display case back is taking away the anti-magnetism feature. In that case, I'd rather the movement be caged. AP's bracelet is definitely one of their USP.

Epic watch. Take my advice, get some other straps for it, it’s a really great watch for mixing things up a bit.

Thank you very much. I saw a guy install a White strap and I loved the look. With my skin tone, won't be able to experiment with a whole lot of colors. :) I intend to get the original bracelet some time in the future. IMO, it is part of the whole AP allure.

Do you know a source or two for me to browse for alternative straps?

I bought straight from AP. I’ve got a purple one so far, and a friend has a grey one. Will be adding more!

Looks awesome. How much do these run anyways? 4 - 500 at least?

Thank you. I do have an extra button on this cuff. It was a tad loose. Will have to ask wife if she can reposition the button.

Thank you. I think so too. There's a small issue of me having no swimming skill. :)

Congrats! My favorite version. Unlike the 15710, the 703 is antimagnetic. The movement is encased in an antimagnetic cage that is unscrewed after removing the solid back.

Def the more robust dive watch. I love it.

Thank you. Did not know about anti-magnetism of 703. Glad to know.

My favorite version as well. No need for open case back on a dive watch.

As for MT being stamped, that was my impression as well.
