Tudor Pelagos LHD: Faux Patina or Not?
Hello all!
I have recently been interested in the Tudor LHD. The thing is, I am not a faux patina fan. The lume on this watch is creamy white, would you call that "patina" or just a different color of lume? Just asking because I can't decide for myself. Please answer using the Poll Above! Thanks! |

I don't know that the intention was to make it look like faux patina, but it definitely has a "coffee and cream" coloring to it I wish it didn't have.

But I am uneasy about it. While I like the BB58 for the size, like everyone else, the faux rivet bracelet kills it for me. I also really like the speedmaster 1957, but hate the faux patina on the lume. Same can be said about some Hamilton watches, and the seamaster 300. So, I do like the Pelagos LHD, but I don't want to buy it, and one day hate it because the lume looks like faux patina. |

Tudor Pelagos LHD: Faux Patina or Not?
I like the Pelagos LHD! I think of faux patina as purposely applying distressed/aged look.
Here’s an example (From Google) I love Longines but the company does it a lot. For comparison, the Pelagos LHD is a clearly modern watch that just happens to have cream colored lume on the hour markers and hands. (From Tudor) |

I wish they would release watches from the yesteryears but release them the way they looked when you bought them new back in those years. |

Compared to the bright white of the two RH Pelagos models, I preferred the slight creamy look of the LHD.
It is simply a matter of a person's particular choice. What turned me away from the Blue RH model is that the blue was simply too intense for me. The LHD was the choice for me with its LH movement design, and the quirky red-text PELAGOS and even-day red numerals.

Nice! I have a few questions for you. To unscrew the crown, do you screw it CW? Or CCW? What about to wind it? To move the hands CW, what do you with the crown ? |

Winds CW. Hands move CW with CW crown rotation.

Just seems like it's its own color, not trying to be fauxtina. Great watch.
That said, I would really love to get the LHD, if only it were like the black/white one. I'm pretty boring sadly. Good luck. |

It's not for me.
It's like buying a distressed Fender Tele/Strat. But I understand why people like the aesthetic. |

Fun fact: the strontium alluminate powder used to make watch Lume glow has a naturally creamy color. Various pigments and binders are mixed to generate the desired final look. Cream colored lume is no more fake than white.

I don't see it as faux but it definitely works perfectly on the LHD.

Nothing faux about it, just lume of a different color.

I find that the cream color is a bit easier on the eyes than the white on the regular Pelagos.

I don't think it's faux patina. I think it's just another color option. And the best color in my opinion.

In the case of that watch id say its more of a color scheme. However, there are some companies that seem to really like using the faux patina look. Big reason why I passed on the newest release of the Hamilton Khaki Field. Just couldn't warm up to the faux patina look.

I prefer the LHD look to the stark contrast the other versions have. Much more calming to look at. The lume is crazy at night though! The watch does not try to look vintage imo, so can't really be fauxtina?

I like the LHD, possibly my favorite Tudor watch. Looks to me like a warmer tone color vs fake patina.

I never thought of mine as having faux patina. I preferred it to the white. Easier on the eyes. Still very bright.
