How does the AP RO 15500 age over time ?
Hi all,
Long time poster on the Rolex side first time in the AP forum. I am looking to expand to brands outside Rolex and find myself drawn to AP, specifically the 15500st. I am torn between the black and blue dials and would appreciate guidance in this matter as well. I understand that I will likely have to pay a premium to source these pieces on the secondary market. My major concern is getting dings on both the bracelet and bezel as they are both highly polished. I have heard that these are very delicate pieces and would love to hear your experience. Can someone share photos of their AP that has been well worn so I can get a better idea Thanks and stay safe |

I don't have a 15500 but I several royal oaks. Over time, even if worn with care, the bracelet will start to accumulate hairline scratches and eventually small dings on the bezel. But I am not too bothered by it as it isn't that obvious unless you bring the watch near eye level.

My 15400 is still pretty mint, but I've read other owners commenting that the bracelet hides scratches well, which is not quite the case for the bezel.
This is mine, after a couple of years of occasional wear, in rotation with my collection. ![]() |

What a great pic and stunning watch...question for you...does the bracelet pull on the hair at all?

I have been wearing royal oak for years now and its more delicate than Rolex. I am very careful when I wear my royal oaks and never really had any issues. You just have to be mindful of what you're wearing and careful

This is my 15500ST Blue after 9 months. It had at least 80% wrist time. There are some scratches and small dings in the bezel.

Still looks great! Personally, I don’t mind scratches and dings on my pieces. It all adds character to them (at least, that’s what I tell myself). |

The bezel and sharp angles are magnets for dings and dents

Been wearing my 15500st prob 60% of the time since I got it in January. And really wearing it not just to the office and back. Probably has some scratches but nothing major |

my first AP was a royal oak bracelet stainless steel
i still remember the horror of making a new hairline scratch on the case while using a cloth to clean it lol im pretty careful and but still ended up putting tons of scratches within a few months with what i consider to be normal wear never got a stainless steel watch after that |

Once you have a royal oak on the wrist, the beauty of the watch takes your focus away from the scratches. I wear my 15500st Blue dial as a daily beater, and it gets dinged around occasionally, Itll inevitable get the bracelet scratched up, which isnt the problem. The BIGGEST issue that you have to watch out for is dings on the bezel edges. These are the largest eye soar, but even then they're not too bad unless you severely hit it.
