Advice to a newb

I've been a member of this forum for a little under three weeks now and am really impressed with the congeniality of its members. I have a dilemma regarding a current sale and I'd like some advice. I have a watch on sale in the buying & selling forum and was offered a specific amount. I accepted his offer and gave him all of my information for payment. The prospective purchaser said he would send the money after I sent all of this information. I've included all of my personal info, including both home and work numbers, and I haven't heard back from him after sending two PMs. I know he's been on this forum well after I've sent the PMs. What I don't like is the fact that I've given out all of my personal information to a stranger whom I know nothing about. He hasn't given me any of his information, since he never paid me and never gave me a mailing address. My question to you all is: Should I divulge his username on this forum? Is this sub-forum strictly for transactions that have been completed or is it used for instances like this as well?

I personally hate situations like this. I would always recommend getting a contact number before any deal is sealed. My advice is to send him an email or a PM explaining what you plan to do before divulging his name.

Hopefully he is just busy and did not have time to reply and will still close the deal with you.

This does leave a "bad taste" and usually when this happens to me I NEVER deal with them again....

I have a feeling you have a buyer who has 'flaked'.

Unfortunately, too common of an occurrence here and everywhere watches are bought and sold.

I would be patient and give the buyer a chance to explain him or herself before revealing their name.

Its happened to me as well as many sellers I know. Unfortunately its part of doing business and as others have said I keep a list of these FLAKERS so I know not to deal with them in the future.

I also thought he might just be too busy to respond, but now I know he's had enough time to log into this forum. Why not just send me a quick response to my PM? Very unprofessional, and I told him so.

I think you're right. I'm just disappointed. Time to let it go, I guess.

As the saying goes, discretion is the better part of valor.

I received an email from the guy. He's apologized and let me know he's been tied up. Better late than never. I told him I'm still accepting offers until he sends me notification that he will send payment.
