Two tone Rolex are more bling than full gold?!

I have experienced this personally. People comment on the TT subs, TT datejust etc that I have owned in the past but not as much on a full gold watch. Has anyone else experienced this?

I am thinking it is because of the contrast between good and steel? Or perhaps people think a full gold watch looks "fake". Maybe I am crazy?

Just curious if anyone else agrees or has noticed this.

What is your favorite TT watch and let's see a pic to spice this thread up a bit

The datejust 2 got way more looks than the gold sub. But perhaps there is a size difference also.

I think it has to do with the contrast of 2 surface colors.

Which stands out more: a yellow car, or a silver car with a yellow racing stripe down the middle.

I definitely agree that is a big factor. I also think that TT Rolex are great value at the moment and you can actually buy them at the AD

think about it.....all of the hot watches can be bought new at AD without too much difficulty including the daytona, submariner, GMT, sea dweller.....and they have so much bling (if you are into that kind of thing). There really is not much downside unless you don't like TT for some reason.

There, you just said it. Lot of people now consider TT to be dated and old fashioned.

Full gold is not something everyone can carry either. Some people are not comfortable with that much bling.

Not judging, just sharing my thoughts. If they work for you then great, enjoy the festive season and potential discounts at AD.

Difficult to pick a favourite, but I don’t have the TT Sub anymore so I guess the CHNR won..

Cheers Brian

I must admit it was a hard decision to lose the Bluesy.

The reality was I just wasn’t wearing it once I got the CHNR & couldn’t really justify 2 TT pieces especially if 1 was just sat in the box.

The rose gold on the CHNR is subtle not ‘bling’ like the yellow gold Bluesy & far more useable in everyday situations imho.

Its just a question of time ,you will one day buy a Blue TT Sub again .Personal experience .

I sold my 16613 in 2008 ,bought a 116613LB in 2018 from an AD and a 2007 16613 blue pre-owned in 2020 ,Its now one of my most worn watches .

I can def understand it being more "bling" to some due to the contrast. A lot of non-WIS probably don't look past gold watches as anything more than Michael Kors, etc.

Yes, agreed. To some people it probably reads like a $200 Swatch if they don't know the difference, so they don't bat an eye ...

I apologized to my computer and my monitor for clicking on that link

Funny how "full gold" Bluesy clone costs the same as the TT version of it.

Those Invictas are astonishing. In the same watch you get a Breitling and a Rolex... In other words a Brolex.

Since it's already posted, my vote for current fave TT is CHNR. Perhaps in age comes wisdom, and eventually it will be an 116613LB

I have always been a TT guy. Some will say it's a stepping stone between SS and PM, but it was always a destination for me. The contrast between gold and steel is perfect. Whether it's more bling or not may be in the eye of the beholder. Anyway, here's a shot of mine.

2 tones are real nice but they aren't more blingy than an all gold watch. Just my humble opinion.

Same here. Not buying the more contrast thing. Full gold still has PCL... Surrounded by gold. No contest Imo.

I think you may be in denial. Honestly I find it hard to even see the PCL on full yellow gold pieces. It blends in with the brushed and even more so once it has a few scratches.

The look of TT watches do catch my eye, and it's probably because of the contrast of SS and gold. If I were to pick, I prefer the rose over the yellow though.

This thread is making me want to trade my deep sea blue for a Two-tone blue submariner or CHNR.
