I've never been a fan of spider dials...

I've never really understood spider dials... most one's I've seen in person always had an uneveness to the spidering that just didn't look very attractive.

I finally bought one the other day that I'm just smitten by.

Looks fantastic! I love spider dials though. Just needs a pearl and you're set.

Very nice - the spidering effect is captured really well in the photos.

I like the no-pearl look, though. Adds character.

Sorry, it really would put me off buying a dial like that

I never understood the attraction to defects.
Once a section of paint flakes off, any perceived value will be gone.

Its a nice looking watch OP but unfortunately, it is a major defect that retailers have successfully portrayed as patina in order to sell at a premium. The dial will only degrade further.

Isnt all patina essentially a defect? I would be curious to know how these spider like cracks affect the structural integrity of the dial and, on the progression of years, how it will degrade.

I think the effect looks cool and frankly this example seems better than most weirdly Italian/superhero nick-named pieces.

For those that haven't seen a spider dial in person, it's actually quite hard to see most of the time. You really have to have light hit it directly and even then the "spider-ing" is visible at certain angles. It's definitely not for everyone but I the effect isn't as prominent as some pictures make it out to be.
