Replacement bracelets
Hello,
Is it common for you guys to pick up spare bracelets for your watches? I have a 16610 which I'm planning to get a replacement 93150 bracelet for so I can keep the original in good condition. Am I weird? |

Pretty strange thing to do. Can’t get my head around it to be honest. But hey, who cares what I or anyone else thinks, if it makes you happy, do it.

Short answer no my own working tool SD from late 1999 has seen more use and abuse thats most of today's Rolex owners will see in ten life times. And been polished by 3 different RSC world wide and still looks good today.

Nobody has a right to tell you you are weird or what to do.
All I can say is I wear some of my watches quite hard. Two of them are the green sub LVc and the blue TT sub LB. Both are covered in dinks and scratches and they both still look spot on. The TT mirror parts do look annoying if you focus in on them, but the point is, you can wear them both pretty hard and have them still look stellar. So it would feel like a bit of a waste to purchase another bracelet |

Weird is not the word I would use. I think if you want another bracelet then go for it. i also think it is a waste of money to sit in a drawer for years if not decades before use. I would use that money as part of my watch fund to purchase another watch.

I can appreciate where you are coming from. I just ordered a leather band for my CHNR for teh same reason. The rose gold polished center links take a beating and I like them to look new. They will always look new if I keep them in a drawer.

All you are doing is saving your pristine original bracelet for the next owner.
Why bother?

My 16610 S serial, which bought new on Jan 1995 still has its 93150 in great conditions. I don’t think that is neccesary but if you want to save it then buy a newest version bracelet with SEL as a daily (as long as your 16610 has the SEL lip on the case (shown below) ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

No, it is not common. They are 1,000 bucks a pop, and so you might ask what are you really going to accomplish, and what is the end goal. If you thrash the bracelet you have, you can still get a new one at some future time, and just swap out the clasp if you want "authenticity". ![]()

Waste of money imo. Just buy a rubber b, everest band or nato for a different look and you can give your original band a rest or in your case preserve it for whatever reason.

Related question, for how long can you order a strap for a discontinued model? For example, if a watch is discontinued in 2015, how many years can you get a replacement from Rolex until they discontinue the bracelet as well? Until 2025, or is it unknown?

It's weird, and I absolutely do the same thing myself. Helps me feel less worried about beating up the bracelet knowing theres a minty one ready to go. Incidentally, I never end up using the minty one.

I think if keeping the original bracelet in perfect condition (presumably in some attempt to have an ‘all original’ vintage 16610 in the future) is a priority, then you should consider never wearing the watch and leaving it in the safe permanently.
Not saying that is what I would do (I strongly advocate that people wear their watches and not baby them), but if you’re going to be precious about the bracelet why leave the case ‘in harms way’ ? In for a penny; in for a pound. |

I wear my 14960M weekdays on a NATO (or my Apple cellular
![]() Mainly because of electrical work. The bracelet only takes a few minute to swap over. If an after market bracelet works for you then do it. ![]()
