My 400th Post and involves something blue

So after a 10 month wait I finally received this beauty...1601/8 glossy blue dial, straight from RSC. Not so often you see a set-up like this. The ultimate vintage summer gold watch!

Here is some pics in different lighting conditions...will try to take some sunny wristie’s tomorrow. Enjoy!

For me the YG models are really dependent on their dial design and coloration to 'work' for me.

For this one, IMHO, I can only quote that Indiana Jones movie: "You have chosen...wisely."

Nice!

That's a very special DJ man. I adore the blue dial, too.

Beautiful. I’ve really been wanting one exactly like that lately. It’s so hard to find either a 1603 or 1803 with much other than the typical champagne dial. That vintage look with the gold on blue is fantastic.

That is lovely. Mine today (only the third pic is in any focus unfortunately) and you're making me want to ask RSC to put a blue dial on it...:

Strangely, pic isn't showing. Here's the link https://imgur.com/a/CIQt2fK

Just amazing!! Love the lack of cyclops! Just makes the watch so much sleeker!

Great looking combo. I did not know you could buy parts directly from RSC.

It was bought thru my AD and this specific dial was back ordered which made me had to wait a whooping 10 months before they decided to produce it again...

How difficult was it to source that dial from RSC? Like I had mentioned I really want one like this in the future, but have always been a little hesitant due to locating a proper dial. Especially to find a nice blue pie pan one like that.

I have a great relationship with my AD after years and years of business...don’t know if that helped. I don’t know how many RSC produced in the same batch as my dial. I would encourage you to talk to your local AD and let them search the Rolex system to see if it’s still available for ordering...

Amazing Thread !!! You killed it, that color combination is one of the very best. And to be able to buy a dial only

My AD said all they can do is send in the watch, with the understanding they would do a complete over haul 1st. Then talk about what dials were available.

Your post has encouraged me to try again with a different AD or skip them altogether and go to the RSC.

T S K That DD Blue/WG is Fabulous !!!

This. You often get different stories from different Authorized Dealers, and even from different Rolex Service Centers. Shop around until you find one you like.

That blue and gold combination is stunning. My poor wallet...

I think Mr Johnson and I had similar experiences. But I'm jealous of his DJ, it looks GREAT, a bit more style than my old no-date watches.

If you go in with a four-digit watch, and ask, RSC will make the change with whatever they've got available, for a shocking amount of money of course. IIRC when I asked about changing my grey-dial DD https://www.hqmilton.com/timepieces/...gray-dial-7682, they offered a couple of black dials and a couple of white dials, a silver, and the one I chose - https://imgur.com/a/f6IJd3D

Had to bring those web-links to life...first the magical gray dial and then the fantastic blue one that just has that ocean/midnight-blue color like my 1601/8 blue dial.

Great choice!! Cool to see a blue DD pie-pan dial with WG indexes!!
