AD in Houston, Tx?
Hey guys! I'm new to the forum and I'm LOVING it! Does anyone know of an AD in Houston that gives a discount off of the MSRP?
Cheers! |

Welcome! As a fellow Houstonian I can suggest Deutsch & Deutsch (Highland Village) and Jared (Memorial City Mall). They both discount as far as I know. Good luck!

Thanks! Do you know what their discounts are usually around? The last Rolex I bought was at IW Marks....no discount.

IW Marks is useless for discounts....quite snobby sales people too, IMO.
It really depends on the model...Jared and D&D will do 5%-10% on some SS.....maybe more on TT or gold. |

A friend recently told me that some dealers in the Dallas area were giving him 10% off without even asking. Based on this, I would imagine 20-25% is possible if you stick to your guns. Good luck and let us know how it goes!! |

Most places in houston will discount 5 to 10% (e.g. Ben Bridge, Deutsch & Deutsch, etc.). Thomas Markle usually stick by their guns but give you other services to make up for it (e.g. free polishing for so many years, etc.). I'm seeing discount adjustments of 25% and more for high end models (e.g. gold models, etc.) where they were only giving 15 to 20% off. With a recession going on you would think discounts should be higher and more consistent across the board but this is not the case in Houston. I say take the first best discount offer from any of these brick and mortars and squeeze in another 5% to 6% as you are about to pay for the watch or just walk out.
I also recommend for you to get to know ADs from surrounding state, negogiate for the same price or better than what you can get in Texas and you have the option to ship to Texas to shave off sales tax. |

I haven't found any AD in Houston who has offered discounts of any kind! Guess they're not hurting.

As in Las Vegas? Good luck, LV ADs are bad about discounts typically. Have you searched the for sale section here on the forum, or have you considered a gray market dealer like swissluxury.com or alanfurman.com?

I have read the same thing, but I have yet to see a documented case of someone getting a 20% off deal from an AD.

I've seen and have been offered 20% off of the stainless steel yacht master. Haven't seen any dealer give any discount off of the new Deep Sea yet from ADs in Houston or the surrounding area. There are legitimate grey dealers in Houston that you can buy from and have much better luck. All depends on the Rolex model, swagger, and timing. You also have better luck when at the end of the month for some AD and better deals are more available during the summer months compared to the Holidays such as Christmas. It also doesn't hurt to have a business relationship with an AD that is built from years of purchasing or if you know someone that has that linkage with an AD. And as always, there is a 40% to 42% profit for ADS on new Rolex watches. Also, be keen on what series is watch you are interested in. A watch that is a F series has a case that was made in 2003 so it is still possible it has been sitting there for five years and have going through multiple price increase. Just imagine, an F series stainless steel submariner date went for $4250 in 2004. It now retails for $6000. It only cost the AD $2550 if they aquired it in 2004. Even with a 20% off of today's prices, they're still making quite a profit even if you equate inflation. I have heard people with better luck with discount when they dealt with a AD in Huntsville. |

They're out there...just a matter of being in the right geographic location to stop by in person. My AD in NC will give 20% off any of the sports models, but won't even discuss it over the phone (for obvious reasons). This was at Christmas, and sales sure haven't gotten any better. The problem is anything I want I can find for 25% off or more from grey dealers; or, 30%+ off on the secondary market. Squirrel, take a peek at the for sale section here and you'll see a few sellers who regularlly advertise BNIB Rolex; I'm sure one of these people can give you a quote on a Milgauss that'll blow away any of the Houston or SA AD's. BUT, the GV is a different story, as they sell closer to MSRP, but you can find them for a discount here on the sales board. Also, Moretti's, in San Antonio, has one, and may be willing to discount the tax out. If you're interested in the sales person's name, let me know; or, Justin probably worked with the same guy on his purchase and can give you the name. Good luck.

My gut feeling is that Milgauss is availabe in Houston but at a Retail price. Anything above 5% will be great....15%?...You've done your homework or the economy is finally pressuring ADs in Houston.
