Icon8 Bought a fake Daytona

Guys I am writing this with a heavy heart I am no means an expert on watches and can imagine that there are many like me.

If you're ever buying a watch locally don't assume you can tell the difference between a real and a fake I lost quite a bit of money recently because of my ignorance in thinking I am smart enough to tell.

The watch in question is a 116500LN and from digging further it's one of those super cloned movements. I went to local police today but not sure how much help that would be they said they most likely can get video as we met at a bank but we'll see how far that goes.

Stay safe out there guys.

Sorry to hear that. It can't be fun. And, I'm guessing you parted with a good chunk of cash for it.

Just out of curiosity, where did you source the deal?

Enough for it to sting for a while if I don't recover it, local deal through our marketplace kijiji

Ouch. Primary rule: Buy the seller. Hope the cops can help you.

This, the intuitively obvious answer to avoid injury. I guess I marvel at the repeated stories about people not doing this.

Sorry to hear that. The price is certainly too low. I hope they are able to recoup your cash.

Oh !
Sorry to hear that !
In fact I have me too avoided to a friend a catastrophic loss just by posting in the forum as I am really no expert on Daytonas and more generally on new watches...so many super clone fake that I am just avoiding to buy grey if not a trusted seller (even that I am paranoid)...
Hope you’ll get your money back buddy !
Keep faith.

If authentic, a black dial 116500 could have been walked into (or mailed into via prepaid FedEx) a dealer for another 30%.

You can't afford to get a deal on a hard to get watch. I hope any new people reading learn this lesson. Buy the seller applies for sure... but even then if the deal is too good you have to remember their account or website could be compromised or impersonated.

There are some crazy fakes out there. Someone nearly got me with a fake sub that had a bunch of genuine parts... Luckily got my money back...

CHT You called it on his original post. Good job catching it. everyone was congratulating the OP and you were the first to ask if it was authentic. I am taking you with me if I ever buy a Daytona outside of an AD.

So is the OP banned? It seems he is a banned member from the past, reposting as a new member with a fake watch? According to the other thread he made: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=764971

He did a similar post on Canadian Watch Collector. Was called out in a flash as a repeat offender, banned there in a blink. He'll be back....

The previous was that "Jimmy" from Montreal.

Head's up.
