Fellow vintage lovers, how do we feel about the modern rolex "Oyster Perpetuals"

Wishing everyone a lovely start to the weekend during these times.

Curious what everyone's take is on the new colorful OPs.
I alike many others on this side of the forum enjoy vintage watches(particularly rolex) drastically more than any of the modern Rolex/watch.
Although I find the time and place to enjoy a modern rolex, the proportions of the older models along with the warmth always take the cake for me.

With the intro of the new OP, I am wondering if any vintage lovers find that it may be something they are looking to acquire and could enjoy.
I have not seen any in the flesh, but at 36mm, I cannot say it is not tempting to have a relatively affordable modern rolex, with a color that one would not ordinarily buy.
For me personally, something about the idea of a 36mm yellow OP screams fun.

Ofcourse things change when we try these watches in the flesh, but I'd love to hear from other VR lovers!
Stay safe all.

I placed a deposit / have this one on order.

Just a fun looking watch that looks great in pictures - and hopefully fits into my collection!

I actually like the yellow as well, but I wouldn't buy it as there are other watches that I am more interested in.

I am disappointed that Rolex discontinued the 39mm OP however. Back in June I was actively looking to purchase an OP39 Black or an Explorer, but as most know, it's near impossible to purchase SS models at an AD without prior purchase history.

Ended up purchasing my 14270 Explorer through a grey/pre-owned dealer instead.

Love them all. This is clearly a Rolex wink to the vintage lovers who have been priced out of the market for Stella dials.

Not really a fan, although of all of the new 36mm versions I'd probably go with the dark blue dial not shown in the above examples.

I feel if you're going to get a modern Rolex, go all the way with a new Sub or Daytona, or a classic 36mm DJ, which is also a nod to Rolex's yesteryears.

These OPs seem to be trying too hard, if that makes sense.

Totally understand Aaron! Initially was toying with the idea of an OP in green.
It is definitely the most "discrete" and elegant of the lot.
I just know I have tons of options at classic sports models, but theres very few occasions where I would go wild with a rolex if that makes sense.

Let's see if you have a change of heart when they are around, I think they could offer a lot of fun for the price point.
I could feel differently after owning one, I just find myself eager to get one in yellow, at 36mm.

That is a great way to describe it but, in a weird way, that's kind of why I like them; it's as though the Rolex design team had a "bring your Tudor friend to work day." It's a bit more bold, or maybe playful. I don't see myself in one but I definitely see one in my wife's future.

Also lovely. I've seen some photos where it is less vibrant, and gives me a little bit of a feminine touch. Nevertheless, I COULD see myself sporting it

I hear you buddy. Will be interesting to see if you change your mind once they are available for all to buy. Also a fan of the yellow, just like you.

I'm not really that interested in the current lineup anymore. The Explorer was a grail watch for me, and if anything it really peaked my interest in 5 Digit models. I actually like the more tool watch aspect of them. As far as Rolex is concerned, I'd be interested in a 5 digit Pepsi or no date Sub, but dropping 8k-10k on a watch is a bit of a tall order for me, well it's doable, but I need to consider my Spouse when making major purchases on Jewelry. Plus, there are other things I have interest in.

Side note, I'm really digging Doxa's current watches. I'm also eyeballing some offerings from GP and Vulcain, and spending 3k is a lot easier than spending 10k.

I like them, with the exception of the coral. I still love my 36 mm red grape dial OP. I am tempted to get the Aqua in 36mm, but not sure I can justify having two of the same model. I am surprised that many of the guys are drawn to the aqua dial variant, as it seems a bit girly, to me.

I think the pink looks pretty darn good there, as long as it stays that light in real life.

Are all distinguished Members commenting from the US?

I honestly think this is a release for the American market.

Exactly how I feel. One of the few Rolexes that are more playful and fun.

Great release by Rolex to acknowledge the Stella dials of the past.

Beautiful! 36 would definitely be a better fit on your wrist size

I believe as part of a rotation it can serve that fun factor, but then again, I have yet to even try one on. All I know is, I'm down for a yellow one and I haven't been excited for a modern rolex in a long time. It's just very different and offers something totally unique to any other watch I own.

I don't believe that to be true.
While I'm in the Middle East, and these are already extremely popular amongst both men and women here, it seems no different in the Far East, Europe, or US.

I walked into the AD wearing a 1018 and tried on a couple; the new 34mm was the closest to the old-style 36mm, in terms of how they fit. I like the watches, and the colours, but people aren't going to necessarily buy them as their GADA only watch.

The previous generation of the OP36 was always a slam dunk with the double batons, good to see that it continued.

I am sorry I could not express myself so directly in the first place, but I do fully agree.

Not worth trying the diplomatic route.
