Lack of incoming Subs and OP's posts
Rolex launched the new Submariner and Oyster Perpetual at the beginning of September, very quickly there was a flurry of 'Incoming' threads from those lucky enough to get hold of a watch during the first few weeks of the launch, myself included.
Since that initial burst of posts there appears to be a drought of incoming posts for the new lines. My question therefore has the initial stock of Subs and OP's that is sent to respective distribution centres then on to AD's been exhausted and everyone is now sitting waiting for the next batch of watches to arrive? or Are people just not creating 'Incoming' threads any more? or Are there other reasons, for example; no one is buying the watch? Just curious as I naively expected to see these incoming posts on a regular basis for the new Submariner and Oyster Perpetual lines.

Have no idea what you’re talking about, there seems to be a new incoming sub thread almost daily.
Secondly, the watches have only been *announced* a mere one month at this point. It would be foolish to utilize current time as any gauge of what actual supply will be. In past, many dealers had no allocation whatsoever only 4 weeks after Basel announcement. Granted this wasn’t a Basel announcement, but still a new release. Also I really wouldn’t use incoming threads to gauge supply either. Tons of people who buy Rolex aren’t posters in here (despite what some seem to think) and even actual members still won’t post ‘incomings’ when they even do grab a new watch. To more directly answer your question though, I believe Rolex is letting out a steady supply of these worldwide, but some locations are still yet to receive any. After a few months though this should be relatively cool, this is not an allocation piece like a Pepsi, it’s almost like a DJ. As for OP’s though, yeah I haven’t heard much about those, but I would think they’d churn out their lowest tier model like hot cakes for massive profitability. Makes no sense to hold back supply on your cheapest model. |

TRF is not representative of all the owners and prospective owners of all the Rolex watches in the world. Extrapolating availability from such a small sample is meaningless. In fact, it's potentially misleading. People are walking into ADs every month to collect their new watches, including hot models, who have never heard of TRF and wouldn't care if they had. By contrast, we have a small number of posters complaining loudly and repeatedly that they can't get what they want and Rolex should be doing something about it. Not representative at all.

I’d agree with some of the above posts as well. For me personally...I wouldn’t rush right out to pursue a sub in particular, as it’s not a significant enough change to warrant getting rid of an 11 series to chase the latest/greatest thing. I was intrigued to see a new PM WG piece, but the new 126619 is a blue bezel on what essentially looks like any other SS model. (Other than PCL). At least the smurf had the blue dial.
I’m sure the incomings are still plentiful outside TRF. |

Most likely scenario is combination of limited supply and the supply that’s out there is being held by ADs to either speculate or give to VIP or as part of bundling packages and rest of the supply is sitting in Grays for prices people aren’t willing to pay.
And some ADs just aren’t getting much supply yet if any. |

There would be a new thread every 3 seconds if gray dealers posted all their incomings.

Maybe TRF is not representative of all the owners and prospective owners of all the Rolex watches in the world. I agree on that. But is does however give some information which is valuable. On the other hand I do not believe that people just walk in a AD and get whatever they want.
