FS: Omega Speedmaster 105.012-65 w/ Extract of the Archives
Hi Folks,
I’m pleased to offer an Omega Speedmaster Professional reference 105.012-65 from 1966. I bought this watch from a prominent Speedmaster collector a little over a year ago. I’ve enjoyed it immensely but it’s time to mix things up. Between the dial and the bezel, the look of this watch changes in different lights, and I’ve tried to photograph and describe it accurately. MOVEMENT: Original caliber 321 movement with 2401XXX serial number. Winding is smooth and timekeeping is good for its age; I find myself setting it back a minute about once a week. Chronograph functions properly, although every now and again the chronograph sweep hand will edge a hair counter-clockwise away from the 12 o’clock position. Please assume a service will be necessary at some point. CASE: Original asymmetric case in overall good condition with no major nicks or scratches. I believe it has been lightly polished in the past, but it’s been done tastefully. Fat neck pushers are not original but are correct for the reference. I believe the crown is a later Omega service crown, and the crystal features the Omega logo etched in the center. CASEBACK: Original double bevel Hippocampus caseback is in good condition with a tiny touch of pitting on the exterior, and the reference clearly engraved on the interior. There is one service mark below the reference number which I believe to be from UK watchmaker Simon Freese. BEZEL: Original dot over 90 bezel with plenty of scuffs and scratches. Bezel has faded and can look navy, grey or light blue depending on the light. DIAL/HANDS: Original tritium stepped dial with applied metal logo has faded to a dusty brown. In some spots a bit of the underlying brass appears to be peeking through. Hour plots are grungy and faded. Color ranges from dark to light brown depending on the light. Original hands in good shape. Spear chronograph hand has a nice bit of tan luminous whereas the hour and minute are a deeper brown. ACCESSORIES: Extract of The Archives stating production on 11/15/1966 and delivery to Mexico. Ships on a Forstner mesh band. Asking $8500 shipped CONUS Please feel free to contact me with questions. PM or grantweber AT gmail DOT com Thanks, -GW |
