Moon phase - what do you like
What moonphase do you like?
I keep looking back at breguets and Lange moonphase saxonia. Also rolex cellini. Dont like the JLC Moon. Pateks are nice, but the moon usually doesnt have the same character as Lange or breguet. Any thoughts> |

If you like the Lange, take a look at the Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar. I'm considering buying one and it's a real beauty

I second that. Just a try on, not mine. I have the Saxonia moon with 850+ stars on the disk.

Can’t be wrong with any of them. But I really like the striking blue of the Lange 1’s MP with day night indicator. And of course the aesthetic of the Lange 1’s dial. It’s an icon. I’m biased though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The day portion of the disk isn't but the night more so. The sax is very blue to navy blue depending on angle.

I keep looking at this. Completely wearable as a daily, totally illegible probably, but has everything.

If you are a moonphase lover it's going to be the Lange Saxonia Moonphase. The disc is the most detailed and beautiful moonphase I have ever seen. Solid gold moon with 852 stars, Lange nailed this one.

The Saxonia has perfect symmetry. It is automatic winding and has a beautiful gold rotor with platinum weight tip affixed using blued screws and a 70+ hr power reserve. Of the 2 I like my sax movement better for that rotor. The silver dial has a matte cartwheel finish like a silver bullion coin and looks white in almost all conditions. The L1 moon has an additional complication in the day/night disk behind the moon disk. It also has a power reserve indicator and is manually wound. The winding crown is rather small for something you'll have to use every 3 days. The other difference is size 38.5 mm vs 40 mm. The sax is larger and it isn't a big deal to me but is noticeable. The L1 is quite a bit more expensive. The in stock units at local dealers may have the previous price listed.

Moon phase - what do you like
I’m going to go for something different, a piece that not only visually shows the moon phase but also the relative position of the sun, moon and earth. It clearly shows as the Earth rotates how each individuals view of the moon is different depending where you are and at what time of night/day the moon is overhead. A member of the trilogy of time - Ulysse Nardin Tellurium Johannes Kepler.
Here we have a full moon showing, a lunar eclipse is occurring, the moon is overhead Australia, sun is setting in Africa, rising in North America and the North Pole is in permanent Darkness. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
