Which low-key precious metal Rolex?
I have a Pepsi and a new "Kermit" and I've got an itch to dip my toes in PM Rolex. Thinking about the black WG YM42 or the new blue WG sub, both of which are pretty understated for PM.
Anyone seen both of these in the metal? Which would you choose? Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk |

If you like rubber straps then the YM is the way to go. I personally prefer my watches on rubber straps. The Sub though offers the opportunity to use a strap and keep the bracelet in reserve for potential resale. Not certain if that would make it more liquid but I suspect so. I've not seen both in the flesh but that would be my take regardless.

Honestly when going PM just go all out and get YG/RG.

Anything not YG or RG, when it comes to PM, will be under the radar. Between the two you mentioned, given the two you have, I’d go YM, just because it’ll be the better contrast/difference, compared to what you have. If I were purchasing a WG/PT piece in your shoes...I’d go Daytona. Good luck!

As far as low key or stealth PM - YM on OF in either WG or RG do the trick.

Both are nice but I wouldn’t choose either. I like the WG Sub but like the previous Smurf iteration better so I’d pick that instead. And I prefer the look of the RG YM OF over WG.
I’d suggest deciding if you want bracelet or OF and your decision is made. If you are making the decision to just have “stealth” wealth, just buy a Casio and then consult your financial advisor on where to invest the rest of the $. Works well for Bill Gates. |

There is absolutely nothing “low-key” about a Pepsi or Green sub. Why are you worried about YG or RG?

ym is a good option and so are the oysterflex daytonas. a wg sub is nice but you have a green sub so it's gonna be redundant i feel, especially for that price range i'd imagine you want something different ... |

I would also go get the smurf if these were my options.
Yachtmaster is a beautiful watch. I would want a bracelet, especially in pm? The new sub is too big imho and so is the SD. I suggest you check out an 11 series day date: 118209 in WG or 118206 in PT (pictured) for true low key pm! Easily passes for a datejust. Or if you have a big wrist just get a contemporary plat day date! |

The YM42 is much more low key than the white gold sub as it's a lot less shiny especially in bright indoor lights.

I've seen both and have the RG YM40 and YG Daytona, and love both. My choice would be WG sub because I think the blue bezel/black dial combo with the heft of WG is a homerun.

I like the new WG sub because of the contrast between blue bezel and black dial. I always prefer full PM vs. PM with OF.

If I were going WG sub, I’d get the discontinued 40mm version.

I just saw this past weekend the RG yachtmaster at my AD, that would be my pick. One of my favorites

The WG Sub only really pops in direct sunlight, indoors it’s not flashy at all

I like the YM better to complement your existing pieces, but I would take a look at the RG version. The dial is just so much warmer and interesting to look at...

Just saw a WG/Black stick dial DD40 while browsing this morning. Other than it being a DD (which most people won't really notice), super low key looking IMO.
