V serial 16610 with Chromalight.

Has anyone seen this before?

It’s possible since the SD got it at about that timeframe and Subs quickly followed next year.

Another possibility is a service dial?

Why ever not seeing Rolex started using chromolight from 2008 and V serials ran from 2008 well into 2009 possibly longer

I've never seen Chromalight on a 5 digit Sub. My random 14060 from 2011 is Superluminova.

Well this is what I’m trying to verify before purchasing. I’ve only ever seen it on 6 digit references.

Would say may be a “late / recent build” service dial?

First time I see a 5 digit with chromalight. Owned an M serial Deepsea 116660 in 2009 and it had chromalight. It is possible that a late production 16610 V (2009) could have been fitted with same. Have you called RSC? They may be able to confirm. Keep us posted.

What we see above is both a 14060M and a 16610 with Chromalight. I’m very confused as never seen before.

You can’t trust photos for lume color- doubtful it’s actually chromalight.

Very true. How lume displays on a photo is crazy. Hell, even in real life. Walk into a dim room after being in the sun and it will glow like a blue light saber, a few seconds later it can look greenish....
However, I don't doubt it may possess chromalight, It's quite possible a V serial to have it, but there's no way for certain that anyone would be able to say whether that watch has it based on a photo. Superluminova can look blue depending on lighting and lapsed time from exposure.

Regardless, if you're trying to confirm authenticity, first buy the seller as always, or use the watch itself and it's credentials, papers, box etc...trying to see if that's chromalight or not from a picture to see if authentic is a fruitless endeavor.

I think if you saw a new watch with Chromalight next to that Sub you'd see it was quite a different color.

Either that or they're using CL on service dials.

I have a 2010 V serial dated January 2010. It's superluminova (green).

Edit: for what it's worth this dial is the same as mine with the space at 300m. I have seen only one other with a "300 m" previously. The space appears to have been carried over to the first 116610LN models in 2010 but I have never seen or heard of a Chromalight 16610.

It was around 2008 Rolex first started using Chromalight on the dials of the DSSD . Following the Deepsea Rolex began using Chromolight on most all of the sports watches like the Submariner, Daytona, and the GMT range.

Thank you all. It turns out that the lume was indeed SuperLuminova when viewed in person. The watch was in immaculate condition too. I was making the purchase for a friend who has no experience with Rolex watches in general. He’s very happy.

Newbie here so apologies in advance if this has been answered somewhere else already, I've read a lot but not everything. I've read that chromalight blue lume came out in 2008. I think there are 16610s out in and after 2008.

Did ANY of them ever get factory chromalight, or none of them?

Thanks!
