New Speedmaster watches - sharp edges on bracelet?

I was wondering if any of you have noticed that the new Omega has sharp edges on the bracelet. It seems like that it can cut your wrist or take off a few hairs on your wrist.

no injuries yet with casual wear since picking up this weekend, overall I find it highly comfortable and quickly becomes a part of your wrist.

I also watched it. I'm now wondering if this could apply to the Snoopy!

New Speedmaster watches - sharp edges on bracelet?

I was able to handle it at the boutique near me and didn’t have any reservations about the bracelet. It is a lot thinner and tapers more than the old one, but I don’t know about the sharp edges.

Edit: just watched the video. I’ll have to check that out next time. Didn’t even notice it. Not sure I’d ever notice if someone didn’t say something.

I haven't seen the video or handled the new Speedy, but I've owned 2 of the .005 Speedy's and handled the new Seamster on bracelet and they all had sharpish edges. I noticed it on the Speedy's when the watch would slide up and down my wrist.

I watched his video, he doesn’t seem the type to just come out with this without good reason. The first watch I ever had (must’ve been a Casio) had a metal bracelet, I was like 6 or 7 at the time and I remember it nipping my skin all the time and it put me off metal until around 19! I guess it depends on how sensitive you are but I’m interested to feel the new Speedy in hand now.

I had the same issue with the Globemaster bracelet, which was so sharp that it actually hurt. Ended up selling it.

Sharp as in they edges aren't beveled. But not so sharp that the bracelet cuts. Not even close. I find it to wear extremely comfortable and does not pinch. But that's my experience.

Don't know about the new one but I can say that the edges of the bracelet on my Moonphase are somewhat sharp. It was the first thing I noticed when I put it on. Rolex bracelets don't have that issue. I wish Omega would put some effort into their bracelet designs. They have been considered the weak point of owning an Omega for a long time. The leather straps & deployants on the other hand are some of the best in the business.

I felt they were a bit sharp when I tried it on last week.

To be honest I was underwhelmed by the watch in general

I’m looking forward to trying the Zenith Chronomaster for comparison

Came here after watching that Timeless Watch Channel video too, looking to add a new sapphire sandwich to the collection. Curious about how serious this issue is, cant imagine such an obvious issue is only being discussed in his video since people are starting to get their moonwatches and posting reviews.

I’d be curious to hear more from folks who actually own one. TBH, a BB58 has “sharp edges” on the bracelet, which are of no consequence in day to day wear. If you close your eyes and handle a six digit sub bracelet versus the Tudor, you’ll know right away which one is the Rolex- the finish is just beyond superb.

As for the Speedy, I’ve heard mention over the years of Omega sourcing from China. Does anyone know if any components or case or bracelet on the current Speedy made in China? It sounds ridiculous to my ears, but you never know with Swatch Group...

I remember when I first was wearing the bracelet on my white SMP that it seemed a little rough...I do think it got worn down though because I stopped noticing it after about a week.

Second the can't wait to see the new Zenith - both colors have got my attention!

This is a good point. Noticed the same thing with my Moonphase bracelet. The edges do seem to get less sharp and more comfortable over time. If Omega would just put a tiny bevel on the edges it would make a world of difference right out of the box.

I thought he said he only noticed on the bracelet models so if the watch is on a strap it isn’t a problem.

No - he said the case was sharp as well. Great anti mugging feature though!

There must be an owner of the 2021 Speedie here that can verify isn't there.

New 3861 Hesalite Speedy on the new bracelet owner here.

I also have and wear & enjoy an 1863 Sapphire Sandwich on multiple leather straps (not really a NATO guy), and a 50th Anniversary Apollo XI- which has an incredible bracelet!

I just watched the video and at about 5:52 he says "Am I on "crazy pills" or are these edges sharp, like they're almost razor-blade like..." Since he asked, I do think he IS absolutely on "crazy pills". I'm wearing the watch now, and I have absolutely no idea what the he!! he is talking about. Even if he does think that the edges are sharper than he would prefer, how does that justify what is basically a 19 minute rant?

Maybe the TWO bracelets he stumbled upon indeed were either from a lot that had particularly sharp edges, or maybe he has overly sensitive skin, or maybe he actually needs to be on some medication, but honestly, unless he came out of the encounter with scratches and bloodied wrists- which he presumedly did not- how does his experience justify putting up what is essentially a 19 minute rant against the bracelet and the watch?

I think that is a very disappointing video for his channel. I have enjoyed some of his videos, but now will have to reconsider his opinions.

Great feedback. I have an 1863 so I can’t verify one or or the other, but when I watched the video, it seemed to me as if he was over exaggerating. I generally enjoy his videos too, but sometimes I wonder about this guy...

Great post.

It’s all about number of views on YouTube, which translate into income. I would consider it clickbait considering the title- many more folks will click on the video with a potentially controversial view of the piece, IMHO.
