AP London Virtual GTG

Daniel Compton and his team at AP London graciously hosted a few of us TRF members today in a virtual get together. Basically we had chat over coffee, with Daniel and his team showing us a few special pieces and answering our questions about AP the brand etc. For some, it was their first introduction to Daniel, so was nice way to get some time with him and to understand what an approachable decent chap he is and what a great country manager and ambassador for AP he is.

...so we now know all the secrets, but we’ve had to sign in blood not to reveal them :) I jest of course.

It was also great to be able to put faces to the names that post here.

This was just a ‘test’ gathering, to see how things may work out for future events, but I can say with reasonable confidence that despite a few teething issues, all caused by AshAP, that there will be more events in the future which can be opened up to a wider audience of our forum members.

For now, it’s nice to know that AP is more than happy to assist us in keeping us entertained in these socially distanced times.

I’ll make a post about future planned events as and when the times comes.

Gary.

The team were excellent hosts, AP really are proving to be in a class of their own here in the Uk in terms of engagement and experience.

Watch collecting should be about more than just the watches, and with AP, it is.

I can now see myself eventually having an one-brand-only (AP!!) collection, and i would never have seen that coming!

Likewise - much appreciated for putting it together.

AP are truly fantastic at the whole after sale customer experience.

Thanks for arranging Gary. It was great to see some special pieces even if over a webcam.

Even better to put some faces to names. Hope to meet some of you guys in person at future events once conditions allow.

Thanks to you guys for showing up.

I just herded a few cats, AP took care of the rest.

For others reading this, there’ll be other GTG’s in the future that would be a great opportunity for you to ‘meet’ AP London, if you are so inclined. I’ll create a new thread for those events when appropriate, perhaps in the summer.

Not in the UK but would love to join one if time differences allow for that, sounds very cool.

I can tell you how decent the guys at AP House in London are - my IT skills are so poor that Vanessa helped me set up Webex last week so I could attend this meeting. Took half an hour! I ended up having a lovely chat to her, Daniel and Adam. I’m fairly sure they must have all thought I was a bit stupid but none of them let on :-)

It enabled me to partake today, which I enjoyed very much, so thanks to Gary. I’ve a lot to learn about AP and this was very interesting and enlightening. Well worth it. I’d thoroughly recommend joining the next one.

Gary, thanks again. It was a tad early but entirely worth it - It made my day and it was so great to put some faces to names.

I cannot wait to be able to do something in person. Hopefully that won’t be too long before all my airline miles expire :-)

I am so sad that I missed it.
I was really looking forward to assist this meeting and unfortunately I couldn’t be available on this date.

You can count me in for the next one for sure!!

Thanks again Gary

Thanks for arranging Gary and thanks to AP House for hosting us. Was great to see a nice selection of their pieces and learnt a few things too with regards to their watchmaking. Looking forward to the next meet whether it’s virtual or hopefully in person!

Cheers Graham and indeed let’s hope that in person meetings aren’t too far away.

It was a bit of fun, and for sure I’ll make a post(s) about future events and open it up to a wider audience.

I’m hoping Gary we can go there sooner rather than later. I spoke to V yesterday and she was telling me about the facilities and kitchen :-)

Unfortunately for me, my visit was as fleeting as it could be due to how things were last year. Straight 8 hour round trip that included maybe 30 mins in the AP House. My main memory from those 30 minutes was how friendly and helpful everyone was.

V is lovely, but they all are, I can’t fault any of them, and that down to Daniel’s skills at putting together the right team.

8 hours is hard core though, that’s love!

Be great to join you guys once we are all out of lockdown at AP House. Spoke with Vanessa today after an intro from a friend here and she was super helpful/accomodating.

Hi Gary,

Would it be possible to be added to the group for any future meets? I know Vanessa and the team.
Thank you
Marc.

This first one was just a test gathering and numbers had to be restricted, there were just a dozen of us. Future gatherings will encompass greater numbers I’ll post here in the forum as and when anything is arranged, although it won’t be before summer arrives.

So, in answer to your question, yes.

That is great, thank you. Hopefully it may even be f2f in the summer.
