Anybody Buying Datejusts Because Steel Sports Inflated?

I have a decent collection of steel sports. Wanted to get another but prices are crazy. Was thinking of buying first DJ. Will I regret?

I like my DJ, so I don't think you'll regret it. But sports models being unobtainable did prop up the DJ market since more people started getting DJ.

No; I don't think you'll regret it. I've worn steel GMT-Masters for decades, and bought a 36mm DJ Turn-O-Graph in December. I love it.

DJs are wonderful watches and I’m looking forward to having a sub collection of them.

Every Rolex is a fantastic watch and everybody should get theirs today.

Not tomorrow, today. Contact your local AD.

Absolutely right.

The stigma of the DJ not being cool enough for the WIS is OVER.

I just got a LBIB DJ2 and it’s fabulous. Best value on the market right now..

Every Rolex is indeed fantastic and regret free as could possibly be.

I'm asking the same question as well. I have a BLNR and wanted to get another steel sports (exp 2 or sub), but my AD told me that a DJ would probably be my best chance for my next piece since AD won't allow a single customer to get back to back steel sports allocation without other purchases.

This is tough since I only care for the steel sports but not much else. I guess I may have to look at the DJ models in order to have a chance for another steel sports.

Yes, in case you were contemplating buying a bunch to get a Pepsi, and then unloading them all at minimal loss.

Not sure what they expect pple to do then at this point, start dj collections when they don't really want them?

They stated clearly the terms, which is great, however there's something wrong if they're forcing a watch to stay in a collection. Maybe it's to prop up the value of DJs since everyone would be flipping them at a loss and the market would be flooded.

Anyone who doesn’t want a DJ isn’t being forced to buy one. Nor is anyone who only wants a Sub.

Everybody has a choice. Nobody is being forced to do anything.

Nope. My AD said if you can flip it for profit more power to you and come back for more.

You will only regret it if it’s not the watch you actually want.

+1 With that said, you have a solid Rolex sports collection...you're definitely a Rolex fan, so I'm surprised that you don't have DJ yet. It's right up there with the Sub as one of the brand's (and world's) most iconic watches.

I bought my DJ because i wanted it, not to fill an itch. If you don't want it, don't buy it.

No regrets here. I love my sports models and don’t really care for the run of the mill dressy fluted bezels either. Do some research and some browsing, there are some pretty rare and unique DJ dial combos out there that may surprise you. This is a 2006 116200 that I wear all the time, way more sporty than your everyday DJ albeit a bit more pricey.

This is one of my fav DJs of all time, I tried to like the 40 DJII variant with the fluted bezel more but this one looks better in my eyes.

Don't think you'll regret it. The only thing is you may feel like it's not as versatile if you've been used to sports watches.

If it's a datejust, definitely get the jubilee bracelet. It feels slight better fitting than oyster to me.

I used to be "fluted only" but the smooth bezel rounds out the watch and reduces its flashiness a bit.

Blue's my pick. I like the blue the best because from certain angles, it'll appear black or at least navy. But, to each's own.

I agree on the jubilee and smooth combination, they work really well together. Prefer the Rhodium dial but that blue version looks pretty good too.

I went with a sporty configuration on my DateJust. It seems more versatile when traveling.
I could wearing a sub, gmt or deepsea but, they don’t seem to be as flexible going from a suit at a conference to jeans and T-shirt walking around when out of town.
Of course, if I’m going to be in Baltimore or Chicago I’ll probably wear a vintage Omega so there is even less flash and no date bubble.

I own a blue DJII and a vintage 1987 Rolesor model. They both fit nicely in the collection alongside the various sports models.

You will absolutely not regret it. I've had a 36mm DJ 16030 for 37 years and it is the only watch that has never left me.

Then, in January, I purchased this one. The DJ41 is absolutely beautiful.

Last week, I was made an offer for this one that was just too good to pass up:

Now I have my old one and these two and I could not be happier.

So, yes, get it!

You have me thinking now also!

Did you buy AD, grey new or 2nd?

What would you say is a good price?

Thank you
