Should Rolex Kill Off 28mm Watches?
Should Rolex make fewer 28mm and 31mm sizes and shift production to more 34mm, 36mm, and 41mm sizes?
Side question... should Rolex just get rid of the super small sizes? More capacity for modern sizes with more dial variation, more diamonds, and higher margins? [Poll is multi-pick] |

Can you tell us how many 28 and 31mm they actually make so we have some context to help make this decision for Rolex.

I do not understand the question. I don't see the need to remove the 28mm and 31mm watches. There are women who still prefer those sizes. In my opinion they are more elegant.

I can't imagine why any Rolex owner, or frankly any perspective Rolex owner, would want the brand to kill off the "less popular" models and manufacture more of the "hot" models. Sure, let's devalue our own purchases. Sounds great!

I occasionally wear my 28mm which I bought on a whim because I liked the dial. I'm a 6 ft., 175 pound guy. I can think of no reason for Rolex to phase out production of smaller watches.

I have an OP28 on order for this year for my daughter - she's 7 but will one day love it (hopefully) and won't have it until she's 18-21. Or she will sell it and go on holiday with no interest in watches what so ever

Rolex should focus on producing only 126710BLRO and 126610LV for 2 years, then the same for each SS Daytona variant.
Then maybe we can go back to business ! |

Seriously, you would think they would eliminate the 26 or 28 (economies of scale.) Or the 34 mm's which are so close to the 36. Why not convert the lower volume production capacity to the higher volume sport model cash cows!? |

Yeah, the small gals need it. My GF has about the smallest wrists and hands I've seen on a grownup. Here is a 28mm on her.

My wife loves her 31mm. It would be a sad day if Rolex dropped them.

Spend some time at any Country Club.
The smaller Ladies sizes are the majority of what you will see, not the celebrity in-your-face men's watches on women.

My wife has a model in 26, 28 and 31mm. She likes all three sizes for their respective look and style. Keep them all.

My husband was very smart..he got me my Rolex before he got one for himself! He now has two, and I just got my third (to be fair, the value of his two far outweighs my three). There is something very feminine and elegant about a smaller-sized watch. Also, I got my 29 mm Yachtmaster because I wanted a Rolex professional watch, and that’s the only one that came in a women’s size. I’ve tried on my husband’s 16613 and 16710; not only is the 40mm case too big for my wrist (it covers my entire wrist), but the watch bracelet is too loose, even on the smallest setting. I’d have to have a permanent link removed. I just got a 36mm DJ which is almost too big on me, visually. (I’m 5’8” so not petite, and wear 2-3” heels to work.) I know Rolex has killed off the 29mm Yachtmaster (and, I think, the 29mm Pearlmaster). I bought my mother-in-law’s 6917. It’s in the old 26mm size, in the classic YG with champagne dial. I don’t think there’s enough contrast with the gold hands to read the dial well, so I don’t wear it often, but it does look amazing in a formal setting. For the most part, the other professional women I know (legal profession) don’t wear the massive watches that you see on female celebrities, and the Rolex watches I see are in the 28-31mm range (the ladies’ Cartier Tank is also popular, and the ladies’ JLC Reverso). From what I’ve seen, even a 34-35mm watch is on the big side for the average woman, and larger than most watches women buy for themselves. Again, no one in my peer group is a “social media influencer” (or younger than the mid-40s) or a supermodel, so I’m not speaking from a hip or modern perspective. What better anniversary or birthday present for a wife than a 28-31mm DateJust, as the first “nice watch”? Many of my friends aren’t into watches, so they’ll just buy a pretty quartz watch from Macy’s or Nordstrom, wear it until it falls apart, and then buy another one. That was my pattern before I got my Rolex. I’d never thought a watch would last 20 years, let alone I’d still get a thrill checking the time after 20 years. |

People deserve choices; just because something isn't your cup of tea doesn't mean it isn't valued by others. Rolex is more than capable of deciding their own fate. FWIW, 28mm is what my wife fancies!!!

I don’t care. But my wife likes both the 28mm and the 36mm

Nah, just because they don’t show up on the daily WRUW thread doesn’t mean they’re not popular or don’t sell.
