Oops I scratched my polished lugs
Had a few cocktails with friends earlier this week for the first time in forever due to lockdown. Went home feeling pretty good and decided I would swap my Oyster for Jubilee on my DJ41. Not my best decision.
Scribbled some scratches on the polished surfaces on top of the lugs when changing the bracelet. Total amateur move letting the spring bars do that. They're pretty small hairline scribble scratches that are hard to photograph but visible to the eye in the right light. You wouldn't notice them unless unless: 1) you are me bc you did it and know they are there 2) you are inspecting the watch to purchase So leaves me with a choice: a) cape cod polish b) bring to watch maker for better polishing c) be an adult about scratchesand do nothing Obviously the answer is D which is to not be a knob and drink and then go on changing bracelets. Open to thoughts and suggestions and scared of Padi56 comment if it comes |

Post some photos.
Depending on severity the best thing to do is wait till major service time. If it takes away from your enjoyment of the watch after a few weeks/months then get it addressed by a reputable watchmaker. |

This is why I have a safe whose numbers position change in the display, alongside a long number to input for code. It makes it impossible for me to open the safe when drunk.
Regarding your watch, I wouldn’t touch it. Let it be a reminder until service to not drink and venture risky endeavors. |

You will add more scratches, depending on the frequency and amplitude of your consumption. Leave them and add more. Only polish at service. It’s a good exercise in discipline and fighting OCD to leave them there.

Sort of happened the same to me after I dropped my brand new Polar the other day. Live with it.
If you want to sell it, I’d send it to a polisher. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Take a small amount of Cap Cod cloth and wrap it around a QTip. You’ll probably be able to make it 90% better ...

To be honest, it doesn't look terribad. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it after awhile.

I honestly can't see the scratch from the photo but if they are really fine scratches then it's generally not that hard to polish it yourself (if you have a cheaper watch, IMHO it is a good idea to practice taping and polishing it before doing this with an expensive watch, and even more so if you are using anything beyond elbow grease, so you can be sure that the method yields a finish that you are satisfied with.)
That said, cosmetic markings really don't bother me and in your situation I wouldn't do anything. If you do nothing at all and this is the watch you are wearing every day, a week from now I think there is a reasonable chance that this won't bother you as much. |

Each scratch tells a story and if you don't remember it then you can always come up with a great story. Thats the beauty of scratches.

Use Cape cod first and see what happens. That would only take an infinitesimal amount of metal off.

Ruined - since it’s a DJ they should have plenty at your AD

I wouldn’t Cape Cod that... You could do more harm than good. Wait until service.
