GMT Master II’s Jubilee bracelet to be discontinued and replaced with Oyster

https://youtu.be/a6HK966cSU8

According to Marc Goldberg, both the Batgirl and Pepsi are to come in Oyster bracelet only and the jubilee will be discontinued.

He predicted the 41mm Sub spot on last year so should be taken seriously me thinks.

If it were to be true, do you think the prices pf those reference skyrocket, considering the relatively short production span of 3 years?

I don’t see them switching back on the Batman. They will find a way to differentiate it from the original oyster or do away with it entirely

Good point. Would be great if the replace it with a Coke bezel. Would be a killer on Oyster bracelet.

Didn’t watch the video, but wasn’t this an April 1 prank? I personally would love it

Not gonna happen. That would make the Pepsi look identical to the WG version, and they would not do that.

Isn’t the WG dial blue now?

Yes, and that was supposedly the reason they changed it to blue, to make it more distinguishable from the SS, and for a short period of time allowed black dials to be changed to blue for free.
I don't see any way they come out with a SS one that looks exactly like the original WG.

The original WG Pepsi was a black dial on Oyster.

I understand. I'm just saying that they wouldn't make an identical looking watch in SS. Rolex always have unique indicators to identify models, and SS Pepsi on Oyster would basically be indistinguishable to the WG/black dial variant.

I thought that even after they announced it. I would be pissed if I owned the WG version.

Personally don't think that they would discontinue the BLNR on oyster in 2019, just to re-introduce it again 2 years later, albeit very slight changes have since been made on the newer GMT2C's case.

I could see them discontinue the batgirl and replace with Coke on oyster, but it seems like such a short run on the batgirl unless they combine the run of Batman+batgirl as a cumulative run and think 8 years is enough of the blue/black.

Can’t see Pepsi on oyster. Getting too close to WG and that would not happen as that would piss off a fair quantity of the existing WG Pepsi owners (original black or current blue dial). Would be poor form

So, current WG Pepsi owners would be upset because now it would look like they own a mere steel Rolex? They should own WG for themselves, not to impress a stranger that they can afford more than a steel Rolex. They should get over it.

That’s what you said before they released the SS Pepsi.

I own the BLRO on jubilee, but would prefer it on a fully brushed oyster bracelet, especially if it came with an glidelock (even if shorter like the YG42 WG).

I put the bracelet from my 114060 on my BLRO. Fits very nicely.

i think it might be true, considering the sudden price spike in pepsi and batgirl in the past two weeks.

That logic only applies if the secondary market had any intel on Rolex’s actually plans. And there’s no definitive info that’s been made public so any price spikes are the result of pure speculation.

People keep asking about why they are showing a clasp in the Rolex teaser ... since that is a brushed Oyster bracelet, maybe that's about the GMT Master II SS moving from Jubilee to a fully brushed Oyster bracelet. That's my best guess.

My guess would be a new Submariner model...

For Rolex to revert the GMT II bracelet back to the Oyster so soon might be seen as akin to admitting it was a mistake.....

When did Rolex ever admit to a mistake..... this would weaken the brand, no?
