Advice on next piece

Hi all,

I'm looking to finalize a three watch line-up this year with the addition of a SS sport model. Currently have the DJ41fluted on Jubilee and the BBGMT on bracelet. Both are keepers.
I have previously owned a GMTIIC and am not considering yet another one. So that's one off the table.
What I'm looking for is something more plain and understated.
My DJ41 serves as my dress watch
The BBGMT is a daily / work beater
Whatever new addition will be worn in more relaxed situations.
I'm currently leaning towards a 124060 Sub but I would much appreciate to have your thoughts on the matter.

A sub is always a good choice. The Tudor BB58 line is also something would consider

That's what I'm thinking. Explorer offers variety of dial, as do the OPs. The Sub offers a timing bezel, which I use ALL the time. Leaning Sub. With the market and wait time, I may consider a Seamaster in white, if I were you.

Ad much as I like and respect Omega, I would prefer to stick with Rolex, maybe also Tudor. I would not rule out a Milgauss but PCL and case are a concern.
I am in no hurry and I can get whatever I will decide from my AD within very reasonable time.
The Sub is the obvious and easiest of choices and I am indeed leaning towards a no-date but..Need to think thoroughly as this purchase will be to end my watch buying quest for the foreseeable future.

A Yachtmaster would be a pretty fun choice, imo, especially the sunburst blue dial one.

That’s what I ended up getting to mix up the black dial of my gmt and panerai. Put it on a rubber b strap love the dial and red hands!

If a Rolex then a Submariner ND. If you step outside of that a Tudor Black Bay 41 or 58 depending on your wrist size and preference. The Tudor will work on a bracelet, NATO or leather and it has a cool retro look. You can also go black, burgundy or blue dial and save about 9k. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Not a fan of the Daytona and anything 36mm but all the rest are valid considerations.

Had the BB S&G and as much as I like it, couldn't bond with it eventually. My biggest complaint about the full size BB is the very deep rehaut. Something that has been "fixed" on the GMT due to thicker caliber...

No hate from me, Paul! You have a valid point and I've been eyeing the TT Seamaster on rubber, too but it wears a bit large and it's a little bit "too good" for a beater imo so wouldn't fit well in my lifestyle. Nevertheless it's a great watch and great value.

Date + cyclops had always been a must for me. And you are right. But I am willing to take a calculated risk on this one. And perhaps do away with the date, if I can.

Very, very tempting and a different hue of blue but the PCL and case polish do raise concern. Although this is going to be a more leisurely piece and seeing limited wrist time overall (like being worn on vacation).

Milgauss z-blue is a really fun watch to own and wear. The submariner is a very practical watch that can take a beating without showing it. They both are great and you can’t go wrong with either. Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

New sub is the best ever made IMO. AR coating, proportions and new lengths of hands makes it the superior choice.

Looking at other models, especially 11 series, make the improvements obvious.

It's only under the crystal. Would be hard to rub off

I was asked by my AD whether I would be interested in one. But a chrono is beyond my comfort zone at the moment. A watch with no date is as far as I would go...

Both legitimate questions. For the sake of discussion and possibly to the benefit of the community, I'll share my thought process with you.

To clarify on the 1st question:

I never was a big chrono fan and I would like to make a well thought out addition. I fail to see the usefulness of a chrono in my lifestyle. And on the other hand, my watch always HAD to have a date. I am now thinking I can do WITHOUT it on my next one. This is as far as I dare to wander from my established view of a watch.

Now to the 2nd question

When I got the GMT LN, back in my sailing years, it was the watch that made the most sense to have.
Fast forward to 2018 I had a life changing, health related experience which prompted me to reinvent myself within the industry and pursue a new career. Needs and wants changed as well. Decided to apply a one watch discipline. To that end, I purchased the BB GMT a few months before letting go of my GMT LN. I also had opted to let go of my S&G and my blue Pelagos a few months prior as they were getting zero wrist time.
Some other micro brand pieces were gifted to friends and family as they also got no wrist time.
For a few months I was on the fence which GMT to keep. I ended up with the BB GMT for the versatility, color, practicality and care free ownership. I didn't have to worry much about it being beat up.
At some point, I got an offer for my LN that I couldn't, in my right mind, turn down that sealed the deal for it. As the market was rising for the LN, the market for a particular vehicle of my fancy was at an all time low. The proceeds from the Tudors and the LN went towards said vehicle and making many fond memories with the ones that matter most in life.
Two years later, I must admit I find it very hard to abide by the self-imposed one watch rule. But at the same time, I know that owning several watches takes away part of the enjoyment of each individual piece. I truly love the BB GMT, it stood the test of time and competing with the LN. So this is a keeper. As is the DJ, in the way it was decided and acquired. I do not want to have more than three pieces so the last one needs to be a keeper, too.
