New Explorer 1 on my 7.5" Wrist

I received my new Explorer 1 today from my AD. I am going to spend the next week wearing it to see how it fits on my 7.5" wrist.

I currently own the 39mm version and find that the dial wears a little too large.

Looks good, It's small but classic. Some people might prefer the 39mm size but I don't think its controversial to say the proportions of the dial and case look much better on the new 36.

You wear what you like and perceive as best for you.

I personally prefer the larger 39mm. I recently got a Datejust 41 and am very happy with it. I know if I had gotten the same Blue dial in a 36mm I would be yearning for something else.

I think it looks a bit small, but if you love it, that is all that matters. Congratulations and wear it in the best of health!

I have the 39MM too and find the same. Wish I could get my hands on the 36MM!

Still looks almost toyish on your wrist. You need a Explorer II or Sea Dweller etc.

Honestly the 39 looks better. I would say the 39 almost looks a tad small on you. Wear what you like but the new 36 wears like a 34 imo.

Thanks, Tim.
Yeah, I was surprised that the BB36 is bigger.

Thanks, will do.

I think Rolex nailed it on the 39 and the new 36. Both will work for most people. I love the 39mm version but I'm a slight lean towards the 36 now.
Should definitely try it on first

I agree. My horrible close-up pics didn't help either

The 36mm looks small. The 39mm looks perfect.

I like the 36. 39mm watches look find on your wrist, but the Explorer is a 36mm watch.

That said, I think what makes it look a bit small is that you've got the bracelet a bit too tight, and it makes it look as though it's pinching. Try a pick with the EasyLink extended.

The Explorer is a 36mm watch is like saying a Patek Calatrava (3919) is a 33mm watch. It was originally that size but times have changed and PP produces larger watches to keep up with demand. I don’t think Patek sells many 33mm watches at this time.

As far as the size of the Explorer, it’s obviously subjective.
With that said the tuna can sized watches of ten years ago have become smaller. The interest in vintage watches has probably contributed to smaller sized watches.
