Should these two be in the same collection?

Recently picked up the Sky Dweller, I have had the Datejust a couple of yrs now. I like them both for their own reasons. I’m not planning on getting rid of the Datejust, just curious about other opinions or perspectives.

I have the same references in my collection and have no problems! I wear them both regularly.

SkyD w/ white dial and DJ41 in rhodium.

I'd sell the DJ myself.

+2.

I recently was in a very similar situation and just got rid of a black dial SS DJ41 for a new black dial SS SkyD. Given the aftermarket prices on them (the SS DJ41's) it's as good of time as any to do it! For me it wasn't $$ driven, it was that they looked wayyy to similar for me to have/enjoy both. I knew which one I'd be wearing more often (wait and see, you will too)! :)

Yeah, I feel that they are a little too similar too.

For me theyre too similar at first glance. Maybe swap the DJ for one with a different color dial.

My thoughts exactly. Are the two the same lug with? Could always get an Oyster bracelet to rotate in, too.

I personally don't believe in selling these watches unless you're strapped for cash. Gorgeous pieces!

I have two Sky Dwellers and I'm not interested in owning a DJ. The Sky Dweller may look a bit overweight compared to a DJ but they are visually close enough for me. I had always planned to get a Sky Dweller and for me, this pretty much ruled out a DJ. Same with my Z-Blue. No OP necessary now.

This hobby/illness has very little logic to it. If you want to own both then you should. Your money, your collection, your choice. If the DJ was bought to celebrate a sentimental/landmark event, I would not part with it.

I'd drop that DJ in a heartbeat and enjoy the hell out of the Sky D but that's just me.

Perhaps change the dial on the DJ to another color

So I had a similar experience with a datejust ii (which is a lot more similar to the sky dweller than the DJ41) sky dweller was a white dial and my datejust ii was a silver. It was too close I sold it the next day.

Changing the dial as someone else said is a good idea, maybe white, or maybe swap it out for a two tone. SkyD and tt datejust (if you like them) are a great combo.

Have a black SkyD and was offered a silver dial dome bezel DJ just today from my A D.

Passed.

Even with a different color, different bezel etc etc etc I passed. Just thought to many similarities.

However I have many Subs and SeaDwellers. So there’s that. I still say sell.

I’d keep them both based on that comment. Also, since it sounds like you had the DJ first, I’d keep them both now that you have them unless you really need to sell. If you had started with the Sky D I’d have said don’t pick up the DJ.

I have a pretty similar situation with my op 39 and sky dweller. Had I have a sky d first id probably not buy it. But I also have a explorer 1 and a airking and enjoy the hell out of them too lol. So what I do is op for day and sky d or night etc.
oh and now I want sea dwellers and subs cas of you!

Oyster bracelet will always feel more sporty… so u might enjoy the dj on jubilee time to time.
So u can possibly keep both.
At least for a while, and u can always sell/trade one.

Personally, I would lean towards trading the dj for different color dial, or another watch.

Of those 2, I like the Skydweller. I'd like to see them on your wrist, as the size of the SD is not for everyone.
