Accidentally removed part of AR coating
I made a stupid mistake when trying to polish one of my watches. I accidentally also “polished” a bit of the AR coating on the crystal.
It’s especially visible at certain angles outdoors. Is there any way to fix this myself or by a watch maker? Or is a new crystal the only solution? |

crystal replacement likely your only option. Shouldnt be too expensive tho. Had a similiar issue on one of my langes, $160 to swap out.

Yeah I’m a bit OCD so that scratch and the now messed up crystal is all I can see now
That’s not so expensive, especially for a Lange. I will go check with my AD then. Maybe a full service on top even as it’s 6 years old already. |

Another idea would be to polish the entire rest of the crystal, but you can imagine how that would look. And defeat the purpose of anti-reflection. I would live with it.

Yuck. That’s why I don’t like AR on top of glass.
What is the point of having a supper strong sapphire that is virtually impossible to scratch and the cover it with a plastic like substance. |

I also can't stand when AR coating is on top of the crystal. It gets destroyed over time.
