Rootbeer GMT VS Skydweller Blue

I have had the Skydweller blue for a few months now. I have worn it travelling around the globe and love it off-course.

But the rootbeer GMT is more comfortable to wear and the size suits my wrist a bit more compared to the Skydweller blue.

I am not planning to sell my Skydweller at all but I might actually trade the rootbeer to a full solid rose gold GMT. I recently tried one at Frankfurt airport and was blown by its beauty.

Market value aside, If you had the choice to purchase AD either the TT Rootbeer GMT or the Blue Skydweller from an AD, which watch would you purchase ?

And if you were to be a one watch person, which out of the two would be your choice for one and only Rolex ?

(Not my pic)

Personally I have no love for two tone watches. Lots of love for the blue sky dweller though.

I'd expect many people to pick the Sky, as the steel/blue combo is awesome on its own. (and of course it being the most complicated option in the line up)

I have a BLNR and think it's a better size. 7 inch wrist and I find the Sky too big for me....

good luck.

Blue Sky Dweller...hands down vs. the TT Rootbeer. No question.

I prefer the straight up GMT complication. Easier to read at a glance and the watch is easier on the wrist as well.

I owned the TT GMT and loved it - however I think that I would go with the Sky-D. I find that it fits my wrist well, and it really could be a one watch purchase.

I love the Sky Dweller for its cleverness, style and complications. I also think the TT CHNR is a very handsome watch. I couldn't choose between TBH. For love rather than utility it would be the Sky Dweller, but a rotatable 24h bezel is versatile and has a number of uses.

If I had to pick only one it would be neither. My choice would be WG BLRO. But I'd have a very hard time letting go of that blue Sky Dweller if I already owned it.

I love the looks of the RG, but I could not change my SkyD for a RG GMT…

I’d pick the Skydweller in a heartbeat over the GMT Rootbeer. I turned down two opportunities to purchase a Rootbeer from two different AD’d shortly after it was introduced. The greedy me wishes I’d purchased them, of course, but only to resell. Otherwise the watch did nothing for me as I’m generally not a fan of TT watches.

TT Rootbeer is a lot easier to get than SS Sky D. blue dial at ADs.

I love TT especially Rootbeer and it fits my wrist better than SS Sky D.

Full RG Rootbeer is gorgeous, I think it's good idea to trade your TT for full RG.

I have both and my wife wears the CHNR more than i do. Out of the 2 i’d say the SkyD is more versatile.

Have you considered a rose sky D?

I’d go Rootbeer as it’s beautiful and the perfect size.

I own a GMT and have tried on a SkyD. I completely agree with the OP, the wearability of the GMT is much much better than the SkyD. The complication of the SkyD is amazing, and it’s a beautiful watch, but it’s a thick piece and generally too large for most wrists (I’d say works well at 7.75”+ wrist)

With that said, I don’t prefer two-tone.

Curious how many of you have tried on both watches or own both?

I own both, but not the Full gold CHNR, just the TT.

If I’m real honest, out of all my watches, I prefer to wear my BLRO on Jubilee. It’s super comfy, not too bling and suitable for all occasions.

The 9001 movement is really cool, and if you want Rolex’s newest and most clever caliber, that’s it. How much you use a GMT function might also factor in. I think the SkyD is a bit easier to read across time zones- YMMV.

No bad choice here.

SkyD out of the question for me solely on size, 6.5 inch wrists here. Not a two tone fan either but if I had to choose a two tone it would be the TT rootbeer, also love the warm Black and Tan bezel.

like everything, it comes down to personal taste and style, along with comfort level with the size difference. having owned both the CHNR and the Sky D, and subsequently selling the CHNR, you know where i stand.

while certainly a beauty, the CHNR is two tone, pinkish and brownish, and scores low on versatility (at least for me.) could never imagine it being a one and only.

the sky d in stainless (in any dial color) is way more versatile, offers great wrist presence, and could easily be a one and only, assuming you're comfortable with the size. the complication is great too.

honestly i don't think i'd want either to be my one and only if i was downsizing the collection. that would probably be the BLRO or WG sub. but now we're getting off topic.

anyway, given your two options. sky d all day.

I love the gmt master 2 and fits my wrist better, so I would pick that one if it was me.
