Exp II Hands Alignment

Read this on the forum a while ago and it peaked my interest. Never thought to check it as it is something that I would always expect to occur. Alignment of GMT hands at 12. Is there more to this?

When buying a GMT type watch, some (one) advised that they align all hands to the 12 as a QC check. Legit or not?

Not sure but every Rolex GMT version I own lines up at 12.

RB, Exp II, and SkyD

This is more of an issue with ETA based jumping GMT hands. I had Breitling Avenger II with the issue. Warranty fix then ok. My 1999 Explorer II is perfect.

Yeah, the only way they shouldn't line up is if they weren't installed aligned in the first place. When you go to set it though, hack the seconds hand at 12 o'clock, not some arbitrary second, then set the hands to an exact minute and then it'll all maintain alignment going forward (again assuming they were installed correctly)

Every single one of my watches including 5 Rolexes 3 omegas GS etc have slight hand alignment issues. I’ve learnt to accept that it is what it is as humans are setting this part of the watch.

Hand alignment at 12 is the first thing I evaluate when looking at a potential purchase.

Your hand alignment is 'good enough for me' and I am a bit picky. In fact I have two watches aligned just a hair off as is yours.

And besides - - any repair service is likely to scratch the dial or case. Live with it.
