never visited AD but got a watch

Has anyone been able to successfully get a desired piece without actually visiting the AD in person? So like inquiring only through email or phone call?

Sorta.

I had a trip planned to Portland, Oregon in 2016. I just got a promotion at work and had been eyeing a 116710BLNR. I figured I'd try my luck calling ADs in Oregon since there is no sales tax there. Low and behold, an AD had one in stock. I wired them the payment and picked up a few days later.

I secured it prior to ever stepping foot in the AD, but I did eventually pick it up in person. Hence, sorta.

I got a Sub date after a few weeks from an AD i had never done business with. Called them and asked for one shortly after the release of the 12 series subs and they called back a few weeks later and had one for me. Then got a BLRO about a year later. Been a really great AD and me and the SA seem to get along really well.

There’s still good AD’s out there and I’ve been very fortunate to find one.

A couple of years ago when I got hooked on Rolex I called about 10 ADs in my area. All of them stated they would not sell over the phone, as per Rolex policy and they are supposed to sell in person.. of course there are always exceptions...

Before the hype in 2016. Don't think it would happen now, especially in London.

124060 with 2 phone calls. The first was to express my interest the day it was released (30 Sep 2020) and the second was almost nine months later (21 Jun 2021) when they informed me it was available for purchase. They shipped it to me overnight.

Back in 2014 in Singapore. SubC, SubC date, SD, DSSD, GMT BLNR, GMT LN all available to choose from at 10% discount on cash payment!
Picked the GMT LN. I didn't even go to collect it myself, a friend of mine did...

2021 even preferred clients are struggling.
You’d get a two tone datejust if you’re lucky, as your non physical enquiry will not get you far, sadly.

I got a 124270 in June after calling an AD. We had been in contact once before about an older 14270 I considered buying.

DJ41 steel, black dial/Jubilee last week. Registered under my wife's name since she had bought a tag from them. Meanwhile I didnt have any purchase history. The guy asked for proof (ID card copy over WhatsApp).
Came through in 8 months though
