Strange I have that same feeling ..... no such thing as a free lunch comes to mind or it is fake .Ok call me cynical , but if the person receiving it has a doubt about its authenticity ..... ???? Look I know that I have no chance getting a Rolex watch from my best friend , he is Welsh , getting a free bottle of wine out of him is an exploit on its own , however if he did offer me a Rolex I would NOT doubt one second its authenticity .

Looks like a 16710 - some folks around here call that bezel insert the "Coke" as opposed to "Pepsi" for the red/blue one.

Great friend, you are indeed a lucky man. I would take it to a AD and get it authenticated if you have any concerns.

Wow, I've never heard of a friend doing such a wonderful deed ! Heck, my own family members would not by me a Rolex, let alone any friends.
In fact, most of my friends could not afford a Casio for themselves, nevermind a $5,000+ watch for someone else. Oh well, it's not about the amount that they can afford to give you, it's how strong the friendship is IMO.
Consider yourself VERY lucky my friend !!
I wish I had friends like that lol
