Tudor Black Bay 36....
A few weeks ago I decided that I should treat my wonderful wife (who bought me a blue Tudor Pelagos for our enagagement) to a 36mm Black bay .
She never had a good watch. I have been raiding forums for a good number of weeks now and have not seen one for sale . Why are these so thin on the ground? If possible, I'd like to find a mint one rather than have to go through AD. Any online sources selling from Europe? Thanks for any help! |

Tudor Black Bay 36....
They’re solid reliable watches that look equally great. They’re not very popular because the modern watch collector chases potential value increase and not the actual watch. These are also equipped with Sellita T601 (previously ETA 2824-2). The uninformed would believe these to be drastically inferior to “in house movements” but the truth is you really wouldn’t be able to tell the difference if both were regulated equally well. Keep in mind, these 3rd party supplied movements are still scrutinized by Tudor, Tudor specific modifications made, and still regulated by Tudor to COSC standards but just not marketed as such.
No idea, about online second hand sellers in Europe. |

Historically not a big seller in my observation therefore a limited pool from which to source a used one. They are inexpensive enough new. According to my AD they can be reliably ordered and delivered so just buy her a new one. She sounds worth it.

I would go new. At least here in the US, the savings for preowned is quite small. The watch new sells for $3,000. Recently Bob’s had one for $2,600. Considering new comes with a significant warranty, will be unworn, and helps with the AD relationship, not much of a choice from my opinion. Even more so if you intend on keeping the piece for many many years.
The silver dial is spectacular in person. The renderings online just don’t do it justice. Value for $$, it gives the Explorer a run for the money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

OP, I agree with the previous posts. The savings pre-owned are minimal, and you might even be able to get a small discount off the BB36 or BB32, which will narrow the gap. I don't believe this reference is hard to find.
For your wife, and what will be her "first good watch", I'd highly suggest buying new from AD. The difficult choice will be which dial colour as the silver, blue, and black are all lovely. Good luck!

Thanks for all valid replies .
Think I'll take your advice and go for new from AD . Most probably will go for black dial as the most flexible of them all |
