Best valued Nautilus

Hello friends!

I have a question that can be considered very strange but will ask it anyway as I wonder a LOT about it.

Which of the following Patek Philippe Nautilus models do you think has the best value if you compare the retail price and the average sales price in the secondary market. I am mainly curious to know the increase in value in currency and not percentage:
- 5711R, rose with link
- 5712R, rose with leather
- 5989R, rose with link
- 5990R, rose with link
- 5712, full steel with link
- 5726, full steel with link
- 5990, full steel with link

i haven't checked the market lately, but based on general sense:
5712R on leather strap
5726 on leather steap
anything on fell metal is high (not to say that it won't even go higher)
5990 rose
5990 steel
5980 rose
you can forget about this three references

On the rubber/neoprene strap, this is the most comfortable Nautilus I've ever owned. I got it for a steal from EWC in Boston then sold it to pay for an FPJ (big mistake). I now have the 5726 with a white dial and SS bracelet but it's just not as flexible to wear as the neoprene strap. Amazing in white and i just want PP to release the 5726 in white dial and leather / neoprene - my perfect combo!!

While not on the list, personally I think the discontinued, first inhouse auto chrono, 5980 has not appreciated to the extent the other nautilus have, or at least not at the same rate. Short of the 5740 it is my personal favorite.

Can you believe the 5980/1a is selling for less than the 5968 and is on a par with the 5711/1a? Also, as mentioned, the 3710/1a, although more of an acquired taste.

I can't! Wonder how long that happens before the gap closes?

5980A enjoying a wrist here

It's true. 6-7 years ago, it sold for a slight premium compared to its Nautilus peers.Name: IMG_0526.jpeg

I agree 5980's do seem slept on in this market for some reason compared to other sports PPs.

Steel 5980's seem to go for the same price as some steel 5711's and while the 5711 wears better imo (slimmer and less bulky) the added flyback chronograph function seems underappreciated on the 5980. Both steel variants of the 5711 and 5980 are discontinued and some dial variants on the 5980 (black) are said to be rare so that shouldn't be a factor.

5980/1A does not have a flyback chrono, that's the 5990.

Not sure why they remain undervalued. Likely reason is they are perceived as 50% thicker than the 5711, but on wrist, they are not that much thicker, especially to people used to wearing a chronograph.

5726!

Blue dial? Checked
Complication which is usable daily? Checked
Relatively reasonable price? Checked
Wrist presence? Checked

Only the 5740 is more special in terms of complication and feel but the price is almost triple a 5726.

5712/1A (steel) - really thin and amazing wrist presence, absolutely mesmerizing dial, and interesting complications.

5990 (RG or steel) - ultimate Nautilus imho.

I think the best value for sure is the 5712 Leather strap

Agreed I personally find the white dial more interesting and crisp overall.

Best "value" from *retail price* as far as price? 5740g for me, but price should only come secondary to truly getting what tugs at your heartstrings at this price level IMO

the 7118 is no ladies watch - it is steel nautilus in mid size like the original. Fits well for most. both white and blue dial
