Hi,

I currently have both of these (and Sub LV as my daily watch) but can only keep one but not sure which to keep...i like both equally as much! Which one would you ditch out of Daytona or TT GMTIIC?

as much as I like the gmt I'd ditch it big time over the Daytona!!!!!!

I'm trying to weigh up pro's and cons of each model...

Daytona

Pros: White dial, perfect fit on wrist, not too common (in uk anyway)
Cons: not too keen on curved edges (bit soft), lack of date

TT GMTIIC

Pros: Gold centre links, GMT function is cool, newer clasp
Cons: black dial similar to Sub LV, can't think of anything else

I'm genuinely stuck!

Your Pro/Con list just goes to show how subjective a question like this is...as it appears we have slightly different tastes. That doesn't make my taste any better or worse than yours, just different. Using every point you made on the two watches, I would list MY pro/con list of the two as follows:

Daytona

Pros: Curved edges, perfect fit on wrist, not too common
Cons: White dial, lack of date

TT GMTIIC

Pros: Black dial, GMT function, newer clasp
Cons: Gold centre links

My point is only you can answer this question because you're going to get people with similar and different tastes than you...but in the end, it's your call and no matter how many people might agree/disagree with you, that shouldn't change how you really feel about a watch. Good luck with your decision.

I do really get annoyed with myself cause no doubt whichever one I decide to let go within a weeks time it'll be the one that I want!

I'm constanly changing my mind. At the mo I'm more inclined to keep the Daytona...it'll be easier to pick a GMT later.

I've already got offers on both, so need to make a decision quick. The money doesn't come in to it though...just trying to think which one will compliment the LV the best. Option 3 I suppose would be to sell the LV and keep both TT GMTIIC and Daytona, but that would leave me without a proper toolish watch.

Both special watches there. I have GMTII, so naturally I choose that. But Daytona is a frame of mind. If you feel it, you keep it!

I have a Daytona & I wear it the least. This is because I look at my Daytona as a dress watch & I only use it for formal & semi-formal outings.
I did not purchase the Daytona, it was a b-day present from my wife. So, it does have plenty of sentimental value.

I believe the choice you make will be dependent on how often you use the watch & how it makes you feel.

Why not just keep all 3? What the heck, you only live once!

Keep the Daytona all day long. You live in the UK so you obviously appreciate the difficulty in obtaining one from an AD. The TT GMT is easily found and does not appreciate in monetary terms as per the Daytona, not that that should be an issue.

Forgive me but how useful is the date function anyway? Surely at most you would only need to remind yourself once a day? Anymore than that and i'd start to question myself and my memory !

Everyone's wired differently...some don't need this function, others can't live without it. I'm the latter. While I like to think I'm a fairly educated person (made it through USNA with a BS in mathematics), for some reason I can't seem to remember the current date. I can pretty much recall every number that I've read about 1953-1967 Corvettes too, yet can't remember today's date for the life of me. Maybe it's the fact that I always have a watch on that has a date function...subconciously my mind knows it doesn't NEED to remember the date.

Kind of like when I was a kid...I took pride in being able to recall over 40 telephone numbers on call for my parents & siblings...yet today, due to cell phones, I barely have 3 phone numbers memorized and the thought of storing 40 numbers in my head seems impossible.
