Desirability probably down, like when they fixed the hands and lume on the so-called "MKI" Explorer 39 few years ago. Not sure about price, but really doubt it will go up, unless sellers and current owners can talk up the "future classic" angle like they tried (and pretty much failed) to do with the old Explorer 39.

As an owner of the MK1 I am not really bothered what happens to the price - market is pretty bonkers anyway - there is a type of comfort when they go up in value but I am not planning on selling and preferred a time when you could get a watch you like albeit at a small premium at times. But it is what it is

Have to agree but many of todays so called Rolex owners think that Rolex watches are nothing more than £££$$ objects and little more. Once Rolex watches were bought to be worn and enjoyed but looks like those bygone days are mostly gone.

There is a daily/ongoing thread of wrist shots on the forum. It looks like quite a few members do actually wear them |

Agree old AK has Antimagnetic Cage, Gold 3,6,9 and pilot watch style 5 not zero five, and no ugly crown guards. The Mk1 Air King is still a future classic collectable.

Likely just remain stable... it'll be a while before new ones start hitting the market. With the improvements to the latest one I see this new one being the winner though.

The speculators are going to get crushed on this one. They were hoping for a discontinuation not a minor redo. The AK had only surged on the hope it would have a Hulk like bounce if completely discontinued. The prices will move down in the coming months. No loss, as I am like most and don't really like the watch or want to own it.

I think prices remain stable at least for a while. They would go up if discontinued, but this is a nice tweak to the model that it badly needed. I sold mine to fund an Omega in December, and over the last couple weeks the rumors got me thinking I should have waited, but glad I sold when I did. Like others mentioned, I also have an Explorer I MkI and the question of secondary market price never crossed my mind when the MkII came out because I would never sell it. Exp MkI prices are still fairly strong in the $9-10K range.

Older Airking in stock numbers had been shrinking, I was suspecting it was just hoarding hoping for a discontinued model to raise the value of all the older models.
