Can we put GMT41 to rest?

For that matter, the Daytona as well. Yes sub, OP and datejust are 41, but GMT, DD, Air King, etc are 40. I don’t think we will see a case change anytime soon, or else Rolex would have done it with the lefty to start with.

The Explorer two is a dual time zone watch with the 41 mm case. They could leave it that way, or it would be easy to put the gmt master into the Explorer case at some point.

They list the new Explorer II at 42, correct?

They do but the DJ41 isn't a 41mm case..so the numbers don't always match the actual size of the case same for the Daytona smaller than the listed 40mm.

Explorer may well match or exceed the 42mm as the old DJII was over 41mm

I think that people thought the GMT would go to 41 because of the 126 subs. I think no one has realized the entire reason subs went a bit bigger was that they wanted to slim out those lugs and get rid of the boxy super case look. Doing that without increasing the diameter a bit probably made it look strange or disproportionate. The GMT case never had that problem.

Strangely both DJII and DJ41 were marketed as 41 even though the DJ41 is really under 40mm.

Great points - plus they slimmed the GMT lugs even more a few years ago with their new movement.

I think GMT will stay 40mm. Personally I am happy with the mix of sizes Rolex now offers.
