Your watch winder and safe
Hi guys,
Out of curiousity, if you put your collection in a watch winder which is placed in your safe, how is the electrical cord plugged in since there are no holes in a safe. There are not many battery operated watch winders so how is this accomplished? Cheers. |

I put my hamster run watch winder in the safe. I had to drill holes in the safe for venting when the first hamster died.

If you buy a safe from a reputable company, they will be able to install a power cord inside the safe. My watches are in the bank vault, but my "guns n ammo" are in the safe. I have a heating element to remove any humidity to prevent rust.

Is IT a "Golden Rod," and if it is, how do you like it's performance?

How ever could a Roles rust as long as seals are good you could leave in submerged in safe full of water for months.Rolex watches are made from materials like S.Steel and other non magnetic materials that Dont rust.Just store your watches if you must in safe, but no need for a winder. If watches are stored for longer than 1 month just give then a small manual wind thats all thats needed been doing just that now for well over 30 years. And most all Rolex watches are water proof to 100 M plus,so if water cannot get in,them same applies with humidity.Worked around high humidity countries like Malaysia Philippines,Singapore,Borneo,Thailand, and Bali for years with very high humidity. And watches underwater daily for months with hardly a dip in fresh water. Never ever had a promblem with water or very high humidity, and can assure you not once with rust.

my watchwinders are the wolf module 3.0. cordless. just charge them up. run for about 4 months on one charge. i also keep a humidity "brick" basically a steel higher end version of the desicant packs you get in various products to keep out humidity during shipment and storage.. we all have seen them with the ever important words of "DO NOT EAT" printed on them..... (jeeze, ya know someone had to eat one or else those words would not be there.. but i digress)
i am usually in my safe a few times a week as i do switch watches during the week, but i just keep the humidity brick in there, just as insurance.
