Champagne DD40–too much gold?

Is the Champagne DD40 super cool or just way too much gold?? I honestly cannot determine if I love it or loath it. Owners chime in—would love to hear some feedback on what this thing is like to daily.

Have a DD36. Perfect balance of flash but not too much flash. Have you considered?

Can’t afford it personally, but if i had the means that is the configuration I would get. I like the all gold look.

Ditto this! Except I’d get in 36mm (still can’t afford).

Has never crossed my mind. Does the full golf effect make the watch wear larger?

I don't have a DD, but with the champagne dial I prefer the DJ as the SS balances it out. On a YG DD I like white, silver or black dials.

Agree we got my dad this DD40 with silver face as champagne is too much. I think it’s old school. Plus he has his old dd36 with champagne dial and diamond bezel is that he got that in the 90s

I know exactly what you mean. I've tried it on and thought the same. I prefer a white dial to break up all of that gold. I love the new 36mm DD with white dial and batons.

I 40mm DD! It's a fantastic watch. I went from 36mm to 40mm and couldn't be happier.

Way too much for me. If I were going yellow gold, would do white dial or silver.

Uh…nooo…this is, like, the ultimate. If I could afford it, I’d buy it in a heartbeat and wear it like I was Tony Soprano.

I've only tried on the display version, but I thought it was amazing. Not one I would want to wear everyday, but I actually loved the monotone look and classic styling.

I'm A WG guy, but if I were to buy a YG DD, it would be with a champagne dial.

I prefer it with a different colour on the dial. In addition, if the dial is champagne, it makes it difficult to see the time depending on the circumstances.

I love it personally, but it is probably an older look vs some of the other dial combinations.

With the baton dial (DD40) it breaks it up a bit, so I personally like that combination. My first choice would be a silver dial on DD40, but champagne would be # 2

I like the DD with any dial. The white is my favorite.

I don't buy into the "it's too much gold" argument. It's one of the most iconic gold watches ever and most always with a gold dial, I don't think holding back on the dial really matters. OP needs to go with whatever sings. Personally I went with white because of the crispness and more importantly legibility. My eyes aren't getting younger. The champagne is the classic though, can't go wrong.
