OP41 Deposit
Put a deposit for an OP41 about 10 months ago and haven't heard any communication from the AD. Should I continue to wait or ask for my deposit back?

Depends what color you were waiting on. Turquoise, Coral Red, and Yellow 41’s are gone.

Believe what you want but the colored OP’s have been in tight supply since introduction. Never say never but I doubt there’s too many more that haven’t already reached dealers.

I’d ask your AD for a status update. If they can’t give you a forms answer, I’d be inclined to ask for it back

To everyone reading this, do you think a 10+ month wait for a blue OP41 is much?

Love that watch. I waited nearly a year for my Sub and a year and a half for my DJ41. But your call of course. |

I have been trying on a list now for about 3 months for a blue OP41. AD said they are hardly seeing any OP41s in any color

Did they ask you for a deposit or did you volunteer? Whatever, I would confront them as soon as possible after the Easter break and ask firmly for an update on your hoped-for OP41. If they start prevaricating then demand your money back and find another AD...this one is stringing you along, he's had your money for 10 months for heaven's sake! And I do hope you have written and dated proof that you gave them a deposit! Personally I would never put down a deposit for a watch even if asked to do so. Good luck!

I’ve never paid, nor asked to pay a deposit and I wouldn’t if I was asked too.
10 months for an OP, ask for an update, if it’s not forthcoming in a month, you should ask for the deposit to be returned. |

You'd think this but it's a different time now. I probably is true but there's no doubt in my mind that the watch have come and gone multiple times to people other than you for whatever reason.
Small fun story. I had requested a yellow op41 last year along with a Daytona. Went to visit and the manager and I had a chat and the yellow op came into topic. I said it's been a few months I didn't think an op would take so long especially such a strange color one. He then looked through my page and said omg your SA never wrote that one down. I had 2 come in and had to go through a long list to find someone interested... two weeks later he called me to collect my Daytona. |

I called my AD and they said the usual but that I am able to get a refund if I wanted to. What's your take? Should I wait a little longer knowing I've been waiting for 10 months already or should I just part ways?

I look at it this way. I’m on a waitlist for a couple watches too. I never put any refund down, and I’m probably just as likely to get the watches I want as you are. Problem now is that if you ask for a refund, you’re definitely not getting what you want from them. On the other hand, if you wait 2 or 3 months, will you get lucky?!?! Maybe. Maybe not. After 10 months I would request a refund. It sounds like they don't seem to have any idea if or when it will ever come in.

I think the number of OP41s that dealers got was likely extremely limited, and considering how many colors there were, they likely only got a handful in.

I was asked for a 20% for the OP, I was dealing with a SA at an AD that I previously purchased a watch from but the SA I dealt with was no longer there. Anyways, I gave the deposit to show that I was serious, it took about 5 months. Since I have asked the same SA for other watches without putting a deposit and I have received other watches since.

I recently picked up the candy pink OP36 for my wife. She wore it to another AD and they were surprised to see one. Said they only got 2 of that variety in the last 12 months. Sounds like all colors in 36/41 that any one AD gets are rather limited

I just received a DJ36 that I ordered for my girlfriend almost 10 months ago, with the pink Roman dial with diamonds at 6 and 9. It was the only one that they've received.
I think the OP might have made a mistake by not following up with the AD sooner. There's a fine line between making a pest of yourself and just making sure they haven't forgotten about you, but if there has been no contact in 10 months you need to get after them a bit. A significant deposit does put you in a better position to press them, especially after 10 months. |

You are in the US, so I’d ask the AD for a copy of your deposit receipt, even if you have the original.
Going to the inconvenience to point out they’ve had your money 10 months may make them uncomfortable, especially if other customers are are present. If I was a new customer overhearing this conversation, I wouldn’t have a good first impression. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
