Zenith Defy Midnight

https://www.zenith-watches.com/en_us...0-670-01-mi001

10yr is coming up. Thinking about picking this up for the wife. Love all the pictures I’ve seen, but has anyone seen it in person?

The diamonds I’m not sure about, and the closest dealer is a 3hr drive that I don’t really have time for before our anniversary. She’s never had a nice watch - was never comfy enough to buy one for herself, though has admired mine. At the moment it’s a toss-up between this an a 34mm Aqua Terra. The AT being much less flashy…but also much less appealing to the eyes.

I've seen this in person, not knowing what it was and just glancing at the other Zenith offerings while checking out the Defy Skyline. It's a nice watch and it did catch my eye when compared to the other Zenith models.

I am biased (if you couldn't tell based on my recent threads), but at that price, I'm looking at the 36mm Alpine Eagle as well. The fit and finish for what you get is just better with the AE - but again, that's just my personal opinion. Chopard is probably also a name that resonates as a luxury jewelry brand for her.

9-10k isn't a small chunk of change to spend on someone that might not be all that interested in watches, so my advice would be to actually shop with her and have her pick one out of a lineup that you've prepared for her. Might not be the most romantic thing but she'll ultimately be happier in the long run, IMO.

I would second the thought above... esp. at this price and this particular watch.

On an unrelated note, I wish Zenith would release a version of this watch WITHOUT diamonds, because it could be a very cool 36mm watch for men...

However, is unlikely to happen because Zenith are apparently already cutting production on the Defy Classic collection to put more resources into their chronos...

I've even considered approaching Bamford to make it happen as a piece unique, but I'm not inclined to part with an arm or leg to get it done.

Oh, yeah. Price. Been offered substantially lower price. Otherwise it would definitely not be in the cards. Not as a surprise, at least.
