sell now and rebuy later

Those of you that bought at the high in the gray market. Are you considering selling now and rebuying later?

I bought a pepsi in Jan... It crossed my mind to try this. but I like the watch too much and the risk is it'll be higher later than my cost now.

Agreed.

I sold a hulk 3 weeks before it was discontinued, and then I sold a Smurf 3 weeks before it was discontinued.

I’m the epitome of “never try to time the market”. It’s a watch to be worn, that’s all it will ever be for me.

If you like the Pepsi I would just hold onto it, even if you see the listing prices dropping that probably means any grey dealer is going to give you a lowball offer and it isn’t worth it in the long run….don’t worry about the market, just enjoy wearing it and creating memories.

I could but I become too attached to my watches once I’ve owned them for a while.

Enjoy the watches you purchase . Wear them use them and hold on to those great time pieces. When you need to sell ,trade or buy do that on your time. Don't stress and pay attention to the market enjoy your watches .

This!
This is why this price correction isn’t a big deal to many. Bought to enjoy, continue to enjoy, regardless of the price-of-the-day. Hopefully people didn’t quit college or invest their life savings to become watch dealers. It’s not like this correction hasn’t been forecasted for quite some time.

Keep it OP.

Sold a watch back to my AD last year because I was not wearing it, not to make money. But go the itch back. It is now more difficult to replace.

Sit tight. Great watch and in the end it will cost more to replace, counting the money you will lose, on a sell in the current market. The current correction can be seen as many things but you don't lose what you don't sell.

Did you buy it to wear and enjoy or worry and fret about price?

This!

That’s the issue with buying at 2-3X MSRP prices: if you would have purchased at list most likely won’t be having those thoughts!

The answer is pretty clear.

It was his "investment" piece.

Two of my Rolex watches were bought from grey dealers because I couldn't get them through ADs. 116610LV which I bought in March 2018 for £8450 unworn, and a black SS Sky Dweller bought in December 2019 for £13,200 unworn. I never had any intention of selling them and I still don't. I bought them to wear, love, enjoy and eventually pass down a generation or two. Property/land = investment, stocks/shares = gambling, watches = fun.

If you don't like the watch then sell it, if you like it keep it.
If you can't keep it without worrying about how much it's worth then sell it and move on, life is too short.

The money is already gone, just enjoy the watch. The watch was worth the price at the time you paid for it. If the money means more to you now than the watch then you are collecting money, not watches. That’s a different forum.
