ok folks, here we go:
The biggest biggest clue: Look at the hour markers and compare to the original one and you will see it very clearly this is a fake .... Also, look at the line that says "1000ft = 300m" Look at the last two zeros in "1000" and the last one zero in "300"... you will notice that they are a little squished ..... Also, what does "T Swiss T" mean at the bottom? Also, check out the carving of the serial #s between the lugs ... it is so so obvious ... in a real rolex, the serial number is very very hard to photograph and definitely is not blk ..... ![]() ![]() ![]() But the biggest one is the hour markers ..... ![]() ![]() ![]() Don't tell me guy that you were gonna fall for it!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That watch looks authentic to my eye. Those are the "nipple" hour markers. Secondly, it looks like he did a rub to show the SN, and 3rd, the 0's are not scrunched it is the angle of the picture creating an illusion.

The watch is fine, 100% authentic. The markers are, as mentioned before, 'Nipple' style The 0's just appear squished, IMO it is just the angle of the pic The 'T Swiss T' is a designation for tritium on the dial The serial number is cut into the case, thus creating a crevice where dirt/dust particles tend to accumulate, hence it appears black. But I never had trouble photographing the serial unless it is a true vintage and engraving has wore off So I guess I am falling for it! ![]()

Does'nt the "gold" look tarnished around the serial numbers? I don't own a gold watch but I'd be surprised if the 18k gold gets discolored like that. Just my initial thoughts.

Err buddies...you guys are right...that's a very hard to find...TRANSITIONAL
Rolex 16800 Submariner in Solid 18K Gold Case... hence the "Ref 16800/8" is sometimes referred... as not to be confused with its RARER predecessor Rolex Ref 1680/8 Submariner. This Ref 16808 Transitional Sub has Cal. 3035 movement with QuickSet Date feature...Gloss Tritium Nipple Surround Markers(Nipple Dial)...n Sapphire Crystal. The other siblings to this Ref 16808 18K Gold Transitional Rolex Submariner are... Ref 16803 Sub - 2 Tone 18K Gold/SS Case... Ref 16800 Sub - SS Case... |

Boy, was I wrong then .... I have never seen this type of dial before. John Brozeks book, the rolex report, doesn't even mention it ....well my apologies for rushing to judgement and I hope the seller won't report me for writing him a nasty email on ebay!

I missed this one. Wow, a 100% genuine- fake watch. As they have noted, it does appear 100% genuine from the photographs.

I believe you called it fake, others called it genuine, therefore I called it a genuine fake...but it can't be both. (The verbiage "genuine fake" was just a play on words.) As I previously stated, it appears genuine by all intent and purposes - and by the photos too.

WOW, you need to lay off the caffeine or something... Calling a guy a scum bag without the knowledge to back it up is pretty ridiculous.
